  • This month has really flown past, but, here we are again!
The balances at the end of July show our debt to be £5.092 - I missed the £5K target by £92  . The amount we've paid off now totals £10.234 - what a lot of money! And how much we could have done with it!

In September we will have some big expenses -
DS2 starting uni, and needing the 'starting uni' kit that we bought the others.
A night's accommodation (for the above trip) - uni is too far for us to get there and back in a day.
The shower, still leaking into the wall
    New tyres for OH's car

Bits of money coming in -
Globaltestmarket - cheque due any day
E-on - hope to get money back soon
Edigital - have six surveys to finish in the next few days - those plus another five already done - should be quite a bit of money there
Job #2 - not quite so many hours in Aug but every little helps!

So my aim is to reach the end of September owing £4,500. Its going to be tough!

    Have a good month all

  • I got up extra early yesterday to try and convert my £24ish winnings (bonus) on TAB bingo to 'real money'. Didn't go very well. I got as far as spending £19, then won £4 something, so stopped spending (didn't want to spend the real money) - and didn't win anything else. So I've still got bonus money that I can't touch, and it doesn't seem worth the faff of depositing £10 to withdraw the £4.

Next time I'll have to spend faster!

i just gave up on the tab bingo and swapped it for virgin which is almost the same but the withdrawal limit is £5 which is better.
Did win a fiver yesterday on butlins, that's only the second time but i've worked out i'm one the cusp of having won £100 in total since the new year so it got to be worth it.

Im looking for help on the TAB .I deposited the £10 and silly of me spent my cash down to £2,not winning anything. But my bonus is 45p.
Im leaving my own cash alone now until I get my bonus up.Am I correct in thinking.I have to wait til my bonus is a decent amount and have to use my own cash then to win on the bingo before I can use the bonus?Im not a bingo person so I dont know how to use my bonus instead of my real cash.

    Hi there DD
The way that I've used TAB is to log on daily and do the free scratch card (and no other), which has paid me 10p - £1 per day; but it pays it into your bonus. I've let that mount up until I got a respectable sum - over £20 in my case. Unfortunately you can't withdraw that money, but that can be used to play bingo. Unfortunately again you can't play bingo with the bonus money until all your money is gone. And the final unfortunate is that there is no guarantee that you'll win with it.

If you want your remaining £2 back, you will need to:
    1) deposit another £10
    2) resist all temptation to spend even one penny
    3) withdraw all that you want to - ie £12. I've normally left a few pence in there to ensure that I could still do the free scratch cards, but this doesn't seem to be a rule any more.

Some people have had to send in loads of id to get their money; I never have, but I think that's because I've withdrawn to the card I deposited with.

Then you can play bingo to your heart's content with the bonus money that you accrue through free scratch cards - or, gather it up and have a mad spree on a 1p day or something.

There are loads and loads of ideas about this on the free bingo thread - have you seen it?

    Hope this helps

  • It's been two whole weeks since my last log - doesn't time fly!

    Since then, I have:
    The good:
Done lots of extra hours at job number 2
    Completed another 4 surveys
Managed to average about 35p a day on bingo
Been fairly good with grocery planning, shopping and cooking

The not so good (for the pocket)
Taken child 3 to start uni - including kitting him out - mega expensive
Stayed overnight in a hotel as it was a 725mile round trip
Had a meal out 'just because'. It started out with lets go and have chips at the seaside - a slippery slope that ended with an Indian restaurant!

The grocery shop is coming tonight, and I'm aiming to have a low spend fortnight to ensure we dip well below £5K at the end of the month.

    Cheers all

  • I saw DD over the weekend

She has been trying to pay off her debts (OD and credit card) for ages, in fact the last 2 academic years the aim has been to 'work lots, pay off my debts and then start again'. Sounds like she is no better off at all.
She said she's thinking of taking a loan, and what did I think.
So I told her about consolodation loans.

Apparently her mobile phone bill has to be paid next week, and it is £150, and so she needs a loan so she can pay it. PAYG she won't consider.

She said all this while we were giving her a lift to a concert(she doesn't drive) which she was really pleased about as we saved her £8 of train fares.

It all feels really  . Why can't she see that the mobile phone is not her friend. And why oh why oh why is she still doing things like concerts?

    Frustrated

sounds like we're both getting frustrated with family members, my sister has come up with a cunning plan, but i think she doesn't think i'll aprove so she won't talk to me about it too much.
I have a friend who sounds like your DD, she was made redundant end of Mar, took a rest before she job hunted, and is still unemployed, but she's been to every festival this year pretty much - the excuse? she already had the ticket. My thoughts - sell the ticket and pay your rent which the govt won't cover the whole amount of.

I'm trying not to think about DD too much, she doesn't want to listen to me (about money least of all). I feel v mean as the question about consolidation loan may have been a way of asking for some money, although I'm not sure that yet another hand out would actually help long term, although it may temporarily prevent her mobile being cut off and/or stop her needing the loan.
I suppose its just a case of her, your sister and your friend all needing to have a light bulb moment. Along with half the population! Ho hum
