Hi Cbm, :hello:
This is what is known as an Agreed Read Dispute (ARD), it basically is when the start and final readings between two suppliers aren’t the same.
A dispute is normally raised to correct these inaccuracies and have the readings matched up, sometimes however the difference between the reads can be below a threshold and the reading isn’t changed. This is because the cost of amending the readings is more than the value of the difference in reads.
If this is the case one of the suppliers may send you the difference as a monetary sum, rather than correcting the reads.
In theory both companies can raise the dispute and there is no right or wrong way when it comes to whether the new or old supplier should do it.
Do you know which reading is accurate? Did you take the correct reading at the point of transfer? If one company has the correct reading and the other is wrong, I’d tend to raise the dispute with the company that has it wrong rather than the one that has it recorded correctly.

I've had a very enjoyable couple of hours in the garden, so am feeling a bit more upbeat about life! Added to which I have some very good news, or more a good discovery really, my 0% deal with Egg doesn't run out until 1st Dec, so there is an extra two months - hooray! Hopefully I'll be able to savage the overdraft a bit more in that time, but it is so hard to reduce from an account we are spending on. That said, the agreed overdraft has gone from £3,900 to £2,500.
I don't think it will be too busy a week coming up, I'm looking forward to having Tuesday off, and I'm absolutely definitely not going to be lulled into work for any emergencies whatsoever! Sadly there is a funeral (no one particularly close) at midday. What do people wear to funerals in churches these days, I haven't been to one for absolutely years?
Hope everyone else has a good week...

Hi Lemon Tree
Good luck with your sister... do you think she realises yet? I try to help my daughter, 22 going on 13 when it comes to money. She meticulously budgets to the last penny (ie no room for any slack), and then puts things on her Visa card as she hasn't got any money. Sadly, I just don't think she's ready to hear, or, that I'm the right person. Hopefully its easier with a sister. Horrible to watch isn't it!
Not sure what you mean by 'still in the obsessive stage'... as that implies there is another stage to come after:rotfl:
I think paying off £23K is incredible, you must have had an enormous change in lifestyle!!!
Cheers

Brian - thanks for your help with this.
No, I didn't take the correct reading - I wasn't even really sure when the point of transfer is as OH was in charge of the transfer!

lol i'm sure there may be different element to the obsessive stage when i get debt free.
I'm sure my sister wants to do something, i feel sad cos we talked things through a couple of years ago when i had my LBM, they always seem to try and clear things but i think the problem is they don't budget for annual things so have to add them to cards. Unfortunately they want to do everything, have things and give their children everything so they just seem to be getting deeper in or at the very best stay the same. I know i've had to be boring and not do things but at least i've now got my DF date in sight. I'll keep trying to help my sister but you can't force someone to change, but i wouldn't be where i am if it wasn't for family support so i'll always be there for them and i'm sure they'll get there in the end.0 -

I find it very sad too, and yes budgeting seems to be the key. Its hard too with children isn't it, I found it very difficult to change what they have, and somehow it isn't always the big things (ie cub camp) that I found difficult, it was the constant Walkers crisps, comics etc, the little things that just mounted up all the time. I've learnt so much being on this site!!! Its a shame that there's not more of this taught in schools or talked about as normal life, rather than the 'because you're worth it' or 'buy now pay later' propaganda!
Whoops... I seem to have fallen off my soapbox....

Day off today, so having tidied up, done the accounts, done half of a survey and put the breadmaker on for dough for rolls for tea I am going to a class at the gym. Then, rush home and in 50 minutes make rolls, make beanburgers, shower and change and leave to go to funeral. Hair cut, supermarket and then home.
I would quite like to go to the library to find a book; as I've just finished 'An utterly impartial history of Britain' which was really funny, but I'm not sure where that can fit in today.
Have a good day...

sounds like you're having a manic day.
beanburgers sound interesting you'll have to give me the receipe. You're right when there's children involved it's often more difficult because of pester power etc, but they've had opportunities when then kids were little to not buy so much because others are buying but didn't take them and i think they've just built up the kids expectations of what their entitled to which will now make it harder as they have to cut back.
sounds like we often share the same soapbox over the 'worth it' and bnpl propaganda0 -
Safely back from a week at camp, 2nd load of washing in the washing machine, car hoovered, and a most importantly a really really long shower!
We left DS2 here for the week, he didn't do a bad job but the house is a bit grubby, with cat hair everywhere, lots of bits of charcoal in the garden and the fridge really stinks of gone off meat - but I can't find any thing in there that should smell.
All ok in the money saving world. We've had a bill for just over £100 for tax credits for last year, but that can be paid next month. Fingers crossed we get to sub £5K by the end of the month - may have to live on bread and soup to do it though!!
Cheers all

Lemon Tree, I've found the bean burger recipe I use which is from NemoToad and is here on MSE. They are really nice, I tend to make them in advance and then pop in the fridge, and then they cook easily and don't break, just needing to be turned a couple of times.
I normally use a can of mixed beans from Sainsbury's, I did them once with just kidney beans but wasn't so keen on them. They are really easy and there is not much 'fussing' needed so I tend to make them in tandem with making dough in the breadmaker (for rolls for them). I do coat them in flour before putting them in the fridge too. One day I'll also try a tomato relish recipe too, and really feel :A !
Hope this helps
