Hi CBM
I'm vegetarian too by choice since I was a little girl and discovered meat was dead animals - I don't think my Mum ever forgave me. Every time I had a cold she always said "a bit of red meat would put you right!".
I really sympathise with your lunchtime dilema and I think the person serving was really insensitive. I wouldn't be able to each a lunch that had ham on the same plate. It would have been so easy to put some bread and cheese on a different plate for you.
Vegetarianism has come a long way since I was young but it only takes someone like you encountered to make you feel awkward.
I have been to business lunch meetings in the past and have had to eat all the garnish because everything had meat or fish in it.
Take care

see i'm not a veggie, but i don't eat pork so i would have rejected the entire plate as well. Once pork has been on the plate then i won't touch the whole thing. You have my sympathy, people do think you're being awquard or making a fuss but you have a right to your choices. PS the worst thing i come across is marg/butter, i don't have it on anything so when you're offered sarni's at work i just get my lunch box out.0

Thanks guys. It still smarts when I think about it; I wonder if I'd said loudly and clearly 'please get me a clean plate' then they would have done so and it would have diffused the situation? On the other hand she might have refused and carried on treating me like a naughty wasteful girl and we would have had stand-off in the dining room
~ rapid change of subject ~
I did my daily scratchies and got £5 on Butlins on the second scratch, woo hoo! Quick game of bingo (I try to if I get more than pennies) and then withdrew £15, as I was already over £10 and had planned to withdraw this weekend.
Also need to do the TAB bingo, I've got quite a bit again in bonus money, and an annoying £4ish in real money that I won last time I played. I really need to play the lot in the hope of converting it to real money; its no good there as bonus!
Cheers all

Hi PBH
Scratchcards are for the patient - its an investment in two ways! :rotfl:
There are bingo sites that allow you to play free scratchcards. You normally have to make a £10 deposit - DON'T PLAY BINGO at this stage as you'll lose your money - and when you have a positive balance you can then do a free scratchcard, which will pay 10p or more per day. As soon as you have more than £10 balance you can then withdraw your £10; I found it easier to make a deposit back to the card I paid in from - others had to send in id if they were using a different method to withdraw. You then keep playing daily until you have got another £10, which you then withdraw again. I was chuffed a couple of days ago to get £5, but this has not happened very often so you are going to need to invest time, daily into this.
All the details are on this thread.
There is also another site which pays money into bonus rather than cash, see my post #56 on my diary when someone else was asking about that.
Hope this helps
Cheers

Hi CBM
Thanks for explaining scratchies to me - I don't think at the moment I will try as I just haven't got the time at the moment but I will keep your tips for when I have.
My new way of life is great but sometimes I think I need a bit more time at home because I am cooking more and am on the computer more either on this site or looking for cheapest prices.
I'm at work right now and will have to log off soon as I'm feeling guilty. I don't know why because I never take my full lunch break.
I will probably be back on line later.

PBH - yes I found that this DF life takes more time, cooking - yep, on this site - yep, and buying things takes ages too... research, thinking, where can I get it cheaper... before I'd have just made the purchase. Also the working out how to mend things rather than replace them, and income generation (surveys, mystery shops, clicks, ebay)...
I really can't wait until there is no debt, which keeps me going. And the lack of time stops me spending of course!
Logging on from work probably means you're hooked - sorry!!!!
