Clawing back - the second half

I was just reflecting on my list of things to do yesterday. I did finish the outline of the training course eventually, and then go supermarket shopping. So I did all the things off the top half of the list 'the mundane' and didn't do either of the things that I wanted to do 'for fun'.
Note to self: Next time I have a free day, which will happen more in future as I'm coming to the end of job #2, prioritise some fun things!!
I think I mght be a bit spoiled tonight though; Spooks on TV and the new Ben Elton book will probably be here as it was dispatched on Monday. Woo hoo!
No more wins on the overnight bingo - I can't believe why people would want to spend their 'own money' on it. I'm off to work; day in the office today.
Cheers all

I just checked the TAB bingo as I had a few games over today and this evening, but no winnings still a £8 balance. Strangely I felt v tempted to buy more bingo tickets and try again, so quick sharp deposit and withdrawal before I could get up to mischief - thanks to Lemon Tree for that idea.
Off now to watch Spooks.

Just wanted to log that I had a bit of a boost this morning, I went online to check the banks accounts as normal and found that the balance of the account used for bills / food / uni contributions (joint account) is over £1K CREDIT!!!!
Until a couple of months ago the account never, ever went into the black. This has been the hardest of the debts to get to grips with, as every time I put money in the account it seemed to get spent. As the bills get paid over the next few days the money will dwindle and reduce and eventually go overdrawn, but what I'm working towards is extra money through the month, and getting paid from job #2, which will bring the balance at the end of the month to hopefully +50p.

I've just been to pick up the car following its service and MOT. I had a nasty shock that it failed its MOT but passed after they fiddled around with a sticky lightswitch. We paid £49 for the MOT itself; does that mean we only paid for one test?
I asked that they would look at the lights in the dashboard that mean you can see when the heating/air/radio is on, and they did that too so I'm pleased. Unfortunately now the switch that controls the demister at the back feels different and doesn't light up when it should, so I'm not sure the demister is still working, which could be a real pain in the neck! Swings and roundabouts.
Damage was about £230, which is on budget. I think its cheaper doing the service and MOT together so will try and do the same next year.
Weekend has just started folks!

Hi CBM
My you've been busy since I've been away. That's so fantastic about the bank account balance - we're still trundling along in overdraft land.
Have you started the Ben Elton book I like him and his books.
Thank heaven it's Friday!
Have a good weekend.

Hi all
All is peaceful at the CBM household today, although mantra for next week is 'must stop spending'....! I've managed 3 NSD, I'm going to aim for 4 more by next Sunday.
We went out last night, and needed to take some food with us - ended up going to a supermarket to get more mushrooms for a Stroganoff and came out £10 worse off! Today I went online to find some ink, which is normally £6 - £8 per colour. I found it on Amazon for £2/£3, so bought 6 cartridges and paid about £16. This represents an enormous saving but is an investment as 2 of them won't be needed for ages, and this month is meant to be about overdraft busting, not investing in goods!
Good news on the CC transfer from Egg to Play, which has gone ahead and Egg is showing a £nil balance so I won't get any interest charges (interest free period ends on 1st December).
I've had a good sort out of some of our files, and decided we don't need gas / electric bills from 2000 from suppliers we have changed twice since, and don't need old tax credit paperwork either. I won't break my fingers trying to get files back in the drawer now!
Hope everyone else has had a good weekend...

hi, well done for starting your month so well on your account, it's great how the little things catch up eventually and make a huge difference.
My car cost more than planned, not only cambelt but also water pump needed changing. eeekkk. Ok i've got the money saved but want to keep it in my account for longer. stamps feet!0 -
Its a bit mixed here today.
The order placed for cheapie ink that I found on Amazon was cancelled 'lack of stock' - although - still on sale but at a higher price. That came from 'HelpdeskIT' shop on Amazon, and I think they've acted disgracefully. I've complained to Amazon, lets see what happens. In the meantime, no ink!
Despite my no spending pledge I placed 3 orders with Vistaprint last night to get some bits for the kids for crimble. Two tshirts, two fabric bags, two post it notes, one notelets and envelopes, and a pad - all personalised - total £9. :T
Got one more child to go so will try and do the same for him. I ran out of creative ideas for snappy slogans.
And the house is a complete mess, and I've got a guy coming round for me to do an assessment (part of the voluntary work I do) at 6. Tea is spag bol for the others as I cooked extra and froze last week, so I just need to run round with the hoover and [STRIKE]hide the paperwork [/STRIKE]tidy before he turns up.
Have a good evening,
