    Hey I don't get ANY!!!! ::)
    I don't think you have to buy her one at all, as I understand it, men generally buy one after a certain number of happily married years, to celebrate the relationship (bit like renewing your vows).........................but hey, I've not been married and never been with a bloke that would buy me one anyway.................so what would I know!!! ::) ::)

    awwww that's easy ,jewellery looks better on us than is does on you men,sexist yes but true ;D ;D
  • Traditionally an eternity ring is given on the birth of the first child...

    If you haven't already sorted out a wedding ring, you could have both made to match the engagement ring?

    Congratulations by the way! ;D

  • I'm glad you said that, my hubby said I had to wait until 25 years of marriage to get my eternity ring! Maybe I can get two.....or maybe some nice diamond earrings ;D
    Nice to save.
  • You can buy one for a first anniversary, a first child or another major anniversary. I got mine on our 10th, would have liked another for our 20th, but we got divorced a few months afterwards! LOL! :)

    As far as I understand it, there are no hard and fast rules as to when/if to buy an eternity ring. Just a nice gesture of friendship as far as I know. ???

    I don't really do jewellery, but did want a nice eternity ring. First anniversary came and went, births of 2 children came and went, so when it was my 40th (no, I'm not that old really ;D ) I decided the only way I was going to get one, was to find it, show it to him and tell him to pay for it. He did!

    OK, it's not the most romantic way of receiving an eternity ring but Mr TM and romantic don't even live in the same postal district, never mind sentance!
    (I've also bought my own Xmas pressies this year - saves me being disappointed or having to take them back)

    I'd say, save your money for the moment and get her one later on, at a time that's special to you.

    My daughters 2, we got married this February. I told hubby I would like an eternity ring for our first anniversary.

    We'll see :-/

    It is traditional to give an eternity ring on the birth of the first child or after a period of happy marriage. 5 years is quite long enough to wait though! Can't believe what stinge-mongers some of you  ladies are wed too (I'm sure ya still love em thought ;D)

    It's quite unusal to buy an eternity ring before being married, quite difficult to choose the style as well, because you don't know how the engagement ring, wedding band and eternity band will sit together. If your first child is born before the wedding I would buy a different piece of jewelery to commemorate the event and purchase an eternity ring later.

    A good piece of jewelery should follow every birth, significant anniversary and birthday IMO
