also recently bought a fab retro Paddington bear duvet cover and made a pillowcase and smaller duvet cover for ds.

Dobie, your wall hanging sounds really lovely and yes sewing, crafting etc is much better than housework. It shouldn't make you feel guilty though. Just tell yourself that sewing is a form of work which is far more productive than housework. You clean the house, it looks wonderful, your turn your back and before your know it it's dirty again, whereas your wall hanging will give years of pleasure.

That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.:rotfl:

    Brilliant!
as a 70s teenager (:o!!!!) I can still remember embroidering chain stitch elephants & cats and lazy daisy hedgehogs onto my jeans - and going out proudly wearing them :p.
(I drew round Gallery 5 stickers to get the shapes)

Now I'm just waiting till DH finally admits his old jeans are dead, then out will come my embroidery threads!.... Oh, better finish the rug first!

I bought a remnant of curtain material $1 at a garage sale and made a Morsbag today as part of a gift. Probably enough material for another 3 so will make them another day. (for me :D)
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Always tempted to make a Morsbag or similar but never sure which kind of material to make, guess it needs to be fairly thick to carry anything of any substance?

Have just repaired a duvet cover which the cat had ripped with her claws, and am going to spend the evening shortening two pairs of trousers which DH bought in Australia - they're fractionally too long.

Wise words, all I have to do is to remember them next time I haven't vacuumed but the sewing is calling to me. :rotfl:

I made some envelope cushions today out of a table cloth I bought in a charity shop for £1.95 and some ribbon I bought for 20p.

Any ideas of other beginners sewing projects?
