And move to a bank that gives a damn about its customers! I'm very pleased to hear it had a good outcome though!!Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j
Do something amazing. GIVE BLOOD.0 -
Fantastic news Angela :j
I wonder how many other customers in the same situation have given up though.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Well done Angela!! Your thread made me fume, these bloody banks think they can stuff us at every opportunity.
Chip and Pin was all about protecting themselves and not the customer. Make sure you get back every penny you have spent fighting this case and still publicise it, other people need to know how banks treat their customers.0 -
Only £300 has gone back into the account, they said it would all have gone back in today. I'm hoping it just takes a day or so to go back to normal. What an absolute mission! I hope they're not stalling just because the police officer dealing with the case wasn't in the office today. I can't breath the huge sigh of relief until I see my account normalized...nearly there, nearly there.0

Well done on getting a result. This thread taught me a thing or two about the Consumer Credit Act and persistance (my first post was the PIN question!).0 -
There's only one word for it...yipeeeeeeee! Absolutely everything apart from a small transaction and an interest charge has been refunded and overdraft charges have been removed. I am so, so happy and relieved. I had a good sleep for the first time last night since all the problems started.
Goodbye HBoS, hello life! There may be a few interesting, positive developments yet, will keep you posted xxx0 -

I have to admit that there have been lots of tears, so much anxiety over this and I don't know how I would have gotten through without people here being kind and taking time to offer advice without which, I really don't know how far I would have gotten. Thank the heavens that on this occasion HBOS have done the right thing.
As a matter of interest, have HBoS given you an explanation why they've now decided to reimburse you, after putting you through the mill? If it's because of all the hard detective work you've done, it would be nice if they've at least apologised to you for causing you so much anxiety. If it's because of any negative publicity they were concerned they might get, then theoretically, when they were determining whether or not they thought you were negligent, that shouldn’t have affected their decision. What a bunch of bleepers they are. You must be soooo relieved. It just makes me furious to think that if someone hasn’t got the capacity and stamina that you have (ie some elderly folk), Halifax would possibly not have changed their minds.0 -
Well done Angela on getting your money back, came accross this thread whilst trying to search for some info on how I can try and get my money back. I had my credit card stolen out of my purse without my knowledge and they got £300 out of a cash machine. The bank are refusing to refund me cos they say they used my pin, I have absolutely no idea how they could have obtained it, it couldn't have been shoulder surfing etc. I can now send in an appeal letter, they have said I should try and send in some proof it wasn't me. Any ideas? They suggested evidence I was at work but it was in the evening.
To make things even more annoying, this all happened 2 months ago, I have been calling them and checking and all the time I was reassured they were investigating the case, turns out they weren't and now there's no cctv because of the length of time.
Does anyone know if the consumber credit acts applies to me as it was a credit card?0 -
Angela - I'm so pleased for you.
Bigwigg - Masonic's posting #7 covers the point you're asking.

The Consumers Association (WHICH?) are still asking for PIN based fraud victims to come forward. (Click Here).
Tip: Put everything in writing to your card issuer. Inform the Police of what's happened and get a Crime Ref or Incidence Number. (include this in your letter).
Good luck.0
