I've recently had some problems with Huggies pull-ups, emailed them yesterday, (once I had finished cleaning the carpet again - eaugh!), got a reply this morning asking for my mailing address so that they can "reimburse me accordingly". I was quite impressed, as I only asked what I was doing wrong with them. Will keep you posted.

edited - not actually having the problems with the pull-ups myself, my DS is using them, just wanted to clarify that before all the Smart Alecs start.

I think everyone should complain direct if there is a legitimate problem. You never know what has happening, if you find plastic in your food and report it, they may find that someone who hates their work is dumping loads of crap in there, it helps everyone to complain, not just yourself.

I have never had any problems with anything until last week I opened a jar of Grosman Pasta sauce and out popped a toothpick!!! Now, it put us off the dinner and we didnt eat it. I emailed them and they sent me a jiffy to send it back. I don't actually care if they send me anything back (although I do think they should at least provide another jar!). But if 3 or 4 people sent them back, and they was on the same production line then they would soon find out there was a serious problem. They would never know if people had just chucked it away.

I once sent a packet of spicy tomato flavour snaps that Walkers used to make back because they had no flavouring on them at all.

  • Well, I complained to Heinz that at least 2 of the 4 tins of beans I bought (well, OH prefers Heinz and they were on offer - I'd never pay the full price!) the ring-pull snapped when I tried to open them, and it was really messy to try to open them with a normal tin-opener after that.
They sent a nice letter and £4.00 voucher!
I never used to bother to complain about stuff, but MSE has made me a changed person!

I emailed McDonalds on Saturday as my kids didn't get any toys with their happy meals and hubby's Big Mac was pretty soggy. They emailed me yesterday to thank me for letting them know about their poor service and they also said they would be sending vouchers for replacement meals.

I'm closing this thread until abuse controller has had a chance to look at it and if they feel approriate, re-open.
  • OK can I remind you all that while the whole purpose of the site is to save money and help consumers, this has to be done within the terms and conditions of the retailers. I'm going to re-open this thread, but please be careful with future suggestions or it will have to be locked or removed.

It's not worth getting het up about every little problem - my philosophy is only complain if I feel really cheated or that it might cause a problem for someone else.

For example, my most recent complaint was some delicious muesli from Sainsburys - unfortunately there was a cherry stone in there, which I felt I could have broken a tooth on. I suggested that there ought to be a warning on the packet that it could contain cherry stones, as muesli typically has all shapes and sizes of food in it.

Sainsburys thanked me for my concern and sent a voucher for my trouble. (I kept the packaging for them to be able to trace it back to the factory).

I shall be watching to see if they do put a warning on their packet in future (Taste the Difference variety, in case someone else encounters the same problem).
