I've had opened skips in a multipack too!
A while back, I had a multipack of pickled onion monster munch, 2 packets out of the 6 were just pure clumps of pickled onion flavouring! But I ate them anyways! *YUMMMM, pure pickled onion goodness* ;DThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
i complain if i think it will make a difference..i once bought a bottle of ace bleach and they had put the dosing ball on to the lid so tight i couldnt get it off to see lid was on tight enought and guess what it wasnt it leaked all over my car and shopping i rang and told them they asked me to send my receipt and they covered the whole shopping bill and cleaned the boot of my car.. seems these dosing balls had been put on by machine which losened the lids .. there customer services were spot on on that occasionThose we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,

I read all the above tales with glee, I run an independent retail store and the amount of damaged choccies, crisps etc in boxes is amazing. I used to just collect them and hand them to the reps who would begrudgingly swap the item like for like or always for the same retail value, sometimes the jobsworths would even check the dates to see if they had been deliberately damaged.
nedless to say I now get friends and family to send these products back to the manufacturer who more often than not send vouchers that way exceed the product value. My Shop Is Your Shop0 -
sometimes if I can be bothered I complain other times I don't.

My daughter got a piece of plastic in a blue parrot sausage from sainsburys. She was only little and I was concerned that they were particularly aimed at little children. I complained instore and they said they would give me a voucher but it would go no further so I wrote to Sainsburys who had some poor excuse and sent me £10 worth of vouchers but I do not buy those sausages anymore!0

I once sent a packet of spicy tomato flavour snaps that Walkers used to make back because they had no flavouring on them at all.
I got nothing back! Cheeky beggars!!
Does anyone know what happened to those crisps? They were well nice (when they had the flavouring on them!)

A few years ago I lived near a Tesco and found out that they had a policy of "never knowingly overcharging" their customers. Basically, if you got overcharged at the till, they would give you the product for free. This was so that if any of their customers wished to complain about "fraud" to regulators, they could use the policy to argue that their intentions were honourable enough and it was an honest mistake.
As their fresh meat was always individually priced, whenever they had an offer on, they had to make sure that all existing stock was marked down with a new price and barcode. Likewise, whenever a special offer had finished, they had to remember to remove all advertising for it (even the tiny little shelf labels that they slip behind the clear plastic cover on the front of the shelf).
Invariably I always found mistakes that had been made and stocked up on such items with the intention of going straight to the customer services desk after paying for my shopping.
My best bargain was when i purchased about £40 worth of fillet stake for nowt! ;D
I'm not sure if they still adhere to this policy though...

They most certainly do still have this policy, it is marked up on the wall on a big poster behind customer services too!!! Mind you they make you work for that refund. Check out the "Tesco Wrong Prices" thread on the Quick Grab It board, for all the current "mistakes".0 -
When you think about the quantities of stuff we buy, eat and use in a year it is amazing that we find so few items with a problem.
Years ago my husband found a live beetle walking around a bag of Sainsburys salad leaves, still dont know how it survived the chlorine washing they put the leaves through, anyway Sainsburys were very apologetic and sent £25 in vouchers, that bought a lot of grouceries then.
Recently my youngest had some organic satsumas for his lunch box which turned out to be more pips than satsuma. I told him that it was pointless moaning to me about it. So he found the Tesco address to write to from the label and they sent him £3 in Tesco vouchers. As you can imagine his older brother and sister were impressessed!

i appreciate this thread - we must complain if things are not up to scratch, but the site cannot condone people being 'unscrupulous' in making such claims.

I've had loads of faulty, unsealed bags of Walkers crisps within multipacks. I get really excited when I find one because I know that I can send them back and get a £5 voucher in return!
They obviously keep your details on a database though because the last time I sent one back, the letter said 'Sorry, that you have experienced further problems with Walkers crisps.'0
