When I was a kid I was pouring myself some cornflakes and as I did so there was a clink in the bowl, I found a piece of oily metal. I told my mum and she wrote off and sent the bit of metal as well. A couple of weeks later we recieved an hamper, it was chocker with all kinds of stuff and also a very apologetic letter. I remember it explaining in great detail where the metal had come from and how sorry they were blah blah blah only trouble was my mum had sent the letter to weetabix and not Kellogs.
I have complained many times since to such suppliers for foreign bodies in my food, Asda paid for a tooth filling which broke off when I hit a piece of bone in some of their mince. Stingiest was heinz, I found a piece of blue polythene in a tinned sponge pudding, they wrote back denying it could be there, everyone knows that people on those food lines where blue gloves, Doh! they sent me nothing, I hardly buy any heinz products now for that
Just this week I had to complain to Walls, I bought some of their special edition cornettos, 4 pack, my cone was soggy(left too long out of the freezer my daughter who works at tesco tells me.) and my sons didn't even have the cone, unlucky. I took the box back to tesco and got my money back and complained on Walls website(unilever). Recieved a nice crisp £5 voucher from them.
Kellogs have been my bugbear for a bit, I think I made them change to the foil wrapping, had many vouchers off them for soggy cornflakes.
I hope you get my drift, look on the wrapping it nearly always says" we hope this product reaches you in perfect condition....." nothing is perfect, get complaining

I had chinese tonight, had a bit of metal in a piece of pork. I just threw it away.

I don't complain for the sheer hell of getting something out of them, only once complained to sainsburys, our entire 12 pack of bog roll was useless, it was all torn, not wound round the cardboard properly, but just got another pack of 12 bog rolls in return.

Just seems a little false saying I had found something in a product of theirs, cause they're bound to check n'stuff. Wouldn't chance it... even if I HAD found something. Just pick it out and bin it!
It's like when people say they found metal shards in their tins of soup etc... Yeah, it's probably from when they opened it! Our tin opener has a habit of scraping shards off into the tin, we just fish it out with a spoon!

Some are born to complain... i'm born to be a wimp!! :D

I complained to Coke last year when I found a piece of metal in a bottle. They sent me a £5 voucher & an apology, I was a happy bunny :) I also complained very loudly to Tescos in-store customer services when my husband found a dead maggott on their own brand porridge oats >:( :o They immediately refunded me & later sent a £10 voucher & apology but, unlike the Coke, I no longer buy the porrige oats!!

Complain to the manufacturer of the tin opener.

    something missing
  • Okay...here goes...

A few years ago I lived near a Tesco and found out that they had a policy of "never knowingly overcharging" their customers. Basically, if you got overcharged at the till, they would give you the product for free. This was so that if any of their customers wished to complain about "fraud" to regulators, they could use the policy to argue that their intentions were honourable enough and it was an honest mistake.

As their fresh meat was always individually priced, whenever they had an offer on, they had to make sure that all existing stock was marked down with a new price and barcode. Likewise, whenever a special offer had finished, they had to remember to remove all advertising for it (even the tiny little shelf labels that they slip behind the clear plastic cover on the front of the shelf).

Invariably I always found mistakes that had been made and stocked up on such items with the intention of going straight to the customer services desk after paying for my shopping.

My best bargain was when i purchased about £40 worth of fillet stake for nowt! ;D

I'm not sure if they still adhere to this policy though...

i recently got £5 from coke, because the straws were missing on 2 out of our 6 pack of 5-alive :-)

asda gave me £10 because there was a bit of a plastic lid in my pizza dipping sauce. i did actually hurt my tooth on it though, the £10 didn't cover the dentist bill!

masterfoods sent me £2 when a packet of skips from a multipack was opened inside the bag and the crisps were soggy.

i think we have a duty to complain about such things, otherwise nobody would know where there were problems in the production process :-)
