its a small heart just below her hip so not noticable, but there must be a law about this

The legal age for a tattoo in the UK is 18. I'd get back in touch with the police if I were you.

I have a lot of tattoos, I love them, but when my cousin wanted one recently, my tattoo artist wouldn't even consider it until she provided him with photo ID to prove her age (she's 21, looks younger). No decent tattoo artist will even consider tattooing an underage child and any tattoo artist willing to break this rule should be avoided at all costs. Since if they're willing to break that rule, you can bet they don't take hygiene and such too seriously either.

Personally (and at the risk of being called names) I'm not sure that tatooists are the cleverist of people, how are they supposed to know a girls age. I know that I find it difficult to figure the ages of my 15 yo dd's friends.
I think I would be considering revoking all her privaliges.

As I understand it, it is illegal to tattoo a person below the age of 18 (unless for medical reasons by a medical practioner). If it were my daughter I'd be absolutely livid and would investigate doing the following:

Report him to trading standards, get the names of other people he has illegally tattoed and try and get his licence revoked.

Take him to a small claims court asking that he repays any money taken for his illegal activities.

Get in contact with the local papers and see if a front page news story about his illegal activities would be possible.

I'm surprised the police can't do something about actual bodily harm?

Here is a link to a case where an tattoo artist was convicted of tattooing a minor (amongst other things).

    Good luck

They are supposed to ask for ID or proof of age. If fake ID were used then that becomes more problematic.

If they aren't sure, they ask for photo ID. If the person wanting a tattoo can't provide one, they don't tattoo them. Any decent artist will do this.

Report him to the Local Authority. All tattooist have to be licensed and its a condition of their licence not to tattoo anyone under the age of 18.

Im currently going through tattoo removal. I would be happy to explain to your daughter how incredibly painful it is to have a tattoo removed. Honeslty, I nearly passed out its about a million times more painful than the actual tattoo itself.

Speak to your daughter and find out the circumstances of the tattoo, what questions if any were asked, was id shown etc?

It's an offence for a tattoo artist to tattoo anyone under the age of 18. It’s abuse at the end of the day as it’s considered bodily harm. The person that did the tattoo should be fined at the least. I know that police can get involved as a friend of mine got a tattoo when she was under aged (16 I think) and the police got involved then. You just have to be persistent.

Like other people I wouldn’t trust a tattoo artist that tattoos under 18’s. I never considered my friends tattoo artist when I found out he didn’t check her age (and then done another one when she was 17 without asking for ID yet again taking her word that she was now 18 for it :rolleyes:). The place I got my tattoo done asked for ID and even kept it on record by photocopying it to prevent under aged tattooing! At least they could prove they checked for ID if the person is under aged using fake ID.

Know many do you? I have a Tat & only know the one who did mine. Why on earth wouldn't they be intelligent, isn't that stereotyping? I'm sure they're the same as anyone else! I also bet they earn alot more than many on here, I only wish I had half of their talent.
