Morning stroppy, only last night I was wondering how/where you were. I always imagine that if people don't post they must be having a hard time (unless they're sunning themselves) Poor you, you sound really ill. I can understand you wanting a big drink tonight but are you on any medication? Do look after yourself.

As for the naughty-but-nice bench, it feels naughty to me because we have so many fine examples on here of people who want to give up completely. I feel so ashamed when someone posts that their world is falling apart and they feel bad because they thought about having a drink. Many a time I've thought about leaving because I'm a bit of a lightweight compared with others. Maybe I'm too easily pleased with myself for having some AF days when I had none before. Oh dear, I'm getting far too serious - must be the rain. When's this lovely hot sumer supposed to start???

    Lovely post maman:T:T

Know what you mean and for me sometimes it feels almost voyeuristic to be reading people having so much of a struggle.:( I wont be posting in June partly because I feel I dont fit anymore and partly because I need to move on with my life and not keep setting AF days now I know I can do them and I fully intend this to be my "normal" life. I will no doubt be lurking to check on my pals though and I know where to come if it slips at all but I dont want to post like a guilty child when I have enjoyed (and yes I do enjoy) a glass of red with my dinner or even if I have gone somewhat over the top - for me alchohol can and will become part of a normal social life and I thank so many people on here for helping me nipping it in the bud:D:A I didnt intend to tell you all that but I have so there :rotfl:This weekend I am cooking dinner at home for some friends and then enjoying a meal out tomorrow, I wont be calling it the naughty bench I will call it the weekend:D

Ok ill shut up now and stroppy I hope you get well soon that sounds really nasty :(

It seems to me that is not alcohol that people are struggling with, but life itself.

Hi NTC, good luck matey with the changes in your drinking behaviour and making it normal and usual and no big deal.

I like the constant vigilence the counting of AFD gives me and the fact it makes me think really hard about whether I want a drink or not. Now I don't worry about when I do have drink when I have one on these occasions. I can control the amount I drink much better than before, after 5mths on the challenge I feel in a better more controlled place where drinking is less of a big deal for me in many ways.

Funny how the counting helps when it's less of a big deal in my head

Hello everyone incl maman, wb, jo, fay and bhb et al. Mollypolly, have a great holiday my dear and enjoy youself to the max!

AF again for me tonight as I'm collecting OH from the train station later tonight, no worries there then making it 11 AFD tonight

    :T Too true.

I am feeling God-awful, so tired and bleary eyed and fuzzy headed. I haven't had my kudzu today yet so I should take it soon.

yes, when life becomes difficult or overwhelming or boring or painful we can use alcohol to make us more comfortable. I think a lot of us have found though that too much alcohol just compounds the difficulties of life, so the nipping it in the bud that NTC talks of helps to get us back into a normal pattern of alcohol use.

I have another 2 AFD days which I think makes me to 11???
Like you NTC I feel a lot happier with my occasional drinking but want to keep an eye on it for a bit longer just to make sure I have really ingrained the 'moderation' habit.
