Where has he been? To campervan hospital?

He was in deed in the campervan hospital (garage for those of us in the know).

small oil leak, turned into gear box replacement and bearings and some sort of water pipe fell off (engine is water cooled so figured that wasn't good!!).

We didn't get to take him on our holidays  he was ready two days after we left.

But he's fine now - had got 2 engines etc and various bits and bobs with him when I bought him so we raked about and found the right bits - was costly but could have been worse.

Anyway - hi to Lurks :) - been a bit awol myself.

Another AF one for me so 11 please JO - xxxx

OK I am not af tonight, but in my defense my lovely daughter decided to get herself knocked down by a car today  literally, long story short ran out behind my car oustide school and a taxi knocked her down and run over her foot...somehow after initial tears and attention of school people not to mention ambulance to preston hospital she is right as rain..can't say the same about me though...it was horrible to witness...the taxi driver was not to blame and luckily was driving really slowly...

I feel like such a bad mother

    Combined AF Day Pledge: 553

Actual combined AF Days: 183 :T

Half way through the month - some people managing to cut down VERY successfully.
    Others struggling a bit.
And some beating themselves up for not being totally AF when they may not even need to be AF!!

For me only, I know that cutting down would be frustrating as I would be controlling my drinking. I would be thinking on a Thursday 'One day to go until Friday and thus a drink' etc and that would do my head in.
I have no desire to drink at all, so I know I could choose to drink if I wanted, but as I have no desire to drink, I don't pick up. This is lovely as I don't have 'bells', no debating society in my head about drinking, and no guilt as I don't pick up.
Stopping drinking is easy, it is staying stopped that is tough.
Cut alcohol out of your life and then you have a hole that needs filling. Thus many people drink after a period of abstinence. And a lot of the time, they go back to their old habits very quickly.

If the regulating approach does not work, try abstention.
If that don't work, try something else.

Good luck my friends - alcoholism is a killer illness. It makes people miserable for years, and then shortens their lives.
Don't be an alcoholic statistic. Think of your families, but mainly do it for yourselves. There is nothing that can make you drink.

Miss Piggy knew she had to stop, and wanted it badly enough, so she has stopped entirely.
She felt enough pain to take the decision and mean it. She is inspirational.
I would love people to not have to feel the pain before they stop.

    GC

(this doesn't apply to everyone BTW)

Oh 69chick I just got such a shock when I started reading your post. Thank goodness she's OK and Im not surprised you had a drink. Of course you're not a bad mother, it could happen to anyone. Hope you both feel better tomorrow.

Fedup, I'm on Ribena (light) as well. I find drinking it hot helps me to sip not gulp but I am getting better on AF nights, don't need a drink in my hand constantly. I'm trying to stick to low calorie drinks (water mainly). I don't weigh myself (OH threw the scales away a while ago as we wouldn't use them beause we didn't like what they told us!) but I'm definitely getting more of a waist since cutting-down.

I went to a school prize-giving tonight. I thought I'd be safely away from booze but was offered a free glass of wine on arrival and there was a bar:eek: I WAS STRONG!

    8AF please Jo.

    Morning all

Ok, I'm sat here in tears!:o

69chick: OMG, how awful for you! This is one of my worst fears for Piglet as his road sense is awful. I'm so glad your DD is ok. PLEASE don't think you are a bad mother. You are a WONDERFUL mother. Sometimes things just happen. I bet you she looks where she's going in future though! So this had me in tears (anything to do with kids and I'm a blubbering wreck!)

    and then:

GC - I've said many times that your words always hit home for me. This time its the" I would love people to not have to feel the pain before they stop." I wonder if some people give up before reaching that point? Any time I even THINK of picking up a drink I'm going to remember the hurt my OH was feeling that night when I treated him so badly. I never want to hurt him or anyone else like that ever again. My life is starting over - this time without the prop of alcohol. Scary but ultimately I feel really liberated!
You are right - not everyone needs to give up. I did. I wish I was a cutter downer - but I never will be. Accepted that now. Thank you GC.

Anyway, off to wipe my eyes (I'm such a silly moo:o).

    15 for me please jo!!

    Miss P
