Okay, where is everyone? You are not all having a deserved lay in when I'm up already are you??
Had to set the alarm on a Sunday no less so I'm not late taking DS to football this morning. My face has not gone down at all and I've had to take nurofen every 4 hours since Thursday evening.....for those that have had this, how long did it take to go?? I'm meant to be going to work tomorrow after already having a week off sick! I've still got the vertigo but the medication has it under control so I thought I'd test going to work tomorrow, plus I'm bored at home.
If I get through today AF then that makes 2 whole weeks AF which is something I've only done a couple of times in 16 years so I feel I've achieved something quite amazing today. I've been so ill though and I don't know whether the fact that this has been helping me stay AF cos of not being allowed to drink with the tablets plus feeling pretty carp, so a bit worried about getting better and being free to drink (iykwim?). Plus as I've been feeling so carp, I haven't really felt any positives to the not drinking yet, my eyes and skin don't look better as one of the drugs I'm on give them a yellow tinge, my face looks like a hamster hiding a stash of food in his gob with my abcess and I generally feel like !!!!!! (sound as pretty as a picture too huh ) . So much for getting a few days AF behind me then getting the sunshine in my life and feeling bright and bushy tailed :rotfl:. Maybe I'm just getting old but was so drunk all the time I didn't notice!!
FUAS, I hope you got a decent nights sleep? xx
Budgie and Fay, you must both meet up when Budge goes to Scotland! Budge are you going up near the top? Thanks for the link to that banarama song, bought back some serious memories
PIR, congrats on staying AF yesterday, that is a fantastic achievement, I bet you feel so proud of yourself! Your friends, although probably not got a hangover, will be not feeling 100% and they will still have the alcohol in their system for another 2 days. You are a star
GC, good to see you posting
Right, gotta get DS's kit out as we are gonna be late for football if I don't get a shifty on!!
Speak to you all later.

FUAS, I hope you got a decent nights sleep? xx
Thanks Jo and PIR, woke up quite a few times, felt sick, felt like I'd had a skinful, even tho' I ended up having 1/2 bottle of the 5.5% wine equalling 2 units according to the bottle.
AF for 2-3 weeks prior to this and even this small amount of alc made me feel sick, hungover and didn't really want it last night and I threw a glass away which I had poured out ages ago plus what was left in the bottle.
Feel numb to the extreme today, still wondering if it was the right decision, tears on edge at all times. Numb and sick.Trying to motivate myself to get something done and not just sit here moping all day
How do you know if it is right?

Thx, Jo. This encouragement is so motivating, and is really helping me to stick to my target. I woke up this morning and felt so pleased and proud. I know that if I had drunk wine yesterday lunch time, I would have gone home and wanted more, more. Then it would have been the viscious circle of self-recrimination, depression, intolerable headache, nausea etc. Oh, I reallly hope I can keep this up, this is life-changing. :jI really look forward to my glass of elderflower presse - I think this is helping as a substitute (at the moment). Early days, small steps, constant vigilence.
I hope your face goes down by tomorrow for work. It must be so frustrating. But congratulations on 2 whole weeks of AFD - that is brilliant, and when you feel better, I'm sure you'll start feeling bright eyed and bushy tailed.
Must get on with the ironing.
Hi to everybody :hello:. I hope you all post again soon and tell us what you have been doing in the real world! I hope you are enjoying the beautiful weather.

FUAS - our posts crossed. You poor thing. Only you know if it is the right thing to do or not. Give it some time for you both to think about it - you've been together for such a long time, you deserve to think things through rationally and then you'll both be able to make the right decision. But you are doing SO WELL on not drinking. At least you have a clear head for all this. xTotal AFD's May-December 2009: 178 ie 73% of total days (245 days)

Morning All,
FUAS - sorry that you are having a rough time. I'm sure things will get better very soon. Have been through a divorce with two young ones so know how you are feeling. It does get better, I promise. Just go with the flow for a few days and work out who you are and where you want to go.
Hugs, Andy
Jo - Is it catching? I have jaw ache again this morning ?? I've had it for a few days. Not swollen - just can't open my mouth without it hurting. Mrs BHB is well pleased. :rotfl:Perhaps I've caught foot and mouth or lockjaw:D
Well I DID survive yesterday, though I have to admit to checking my wallet to see if I had enough money to go and get some beer from the local corner shop at about 8.30. I very nearly did :eek:.
I was in one of the 'well I can have a couple' & ' I'm sure I am on top of it now' moods. I would so love to be able to have just a couple of beers..... or even 3 or 4, and then nothing for a few days. Or just to drink on weekends.
I keep thinking, well I've given up for 9 or 10 weeks, I can risk trying to stick to a few. If it doesn't work then I can cut it out completely again.
But then another bit of me says that if I start again I won't stop.:eek::eek:
Anyway ....enough rambling from me .....
Hope everyone on a low has a better day, and hope everyone on a high stays that way
Best Wishes
Andy

I dropped off here and had lots to catch up on this morning.
Eselt, well done on the new job :T
Budgie wow what a lovely thing to do for Jo. You know you do so much for everyone else, you musn't forget yourself. So sorry to hear Mr B is getting very stessed out looking for a job, it is hard when you are looking unsuccessfully for a while. When my OH is worried aout me it really helps if he comes up with ways to get me out of the house and doing something as I do get a bit stir crazy tbh. I try to organise it myself but if I'm feeling low that can be tough.
Thanks for crossing everything but I now believe no news is probably bad news as the job would have started straight away. I have been on a bit of a binge session since Wednesday to be honest. Yesterday started in the pub in the afternoon and although my friends were drunker none of us was exactly unscathed. It was fun at the time but not so much fun this morning. Plus I spent money I don't really have both at the pub and on pizza later to soak up the drinking.
Fedupand skint so sorry to hear about you and your OH. Massive hugs and all you can do is wait and see how you feel about the decision. Things like that aren't always cut and dried on one day so just take it a step at a time, eat regularly and look after yourself. 12 days is amazing - well done for not drowning your sorrows and not getting hammered.
Sparky - well done - 40% of the way there already, you can do it!
Jo, hope you've stopped rattling and so sorry to hear about your face still being so swollen. Good luck on getting to your two weeks AF today. Found this hamster video to cheer you up.

Two weeks AF is a great milestone. Good luck, fingers crossed for you today.
Miss Piggy hope you feel better soon.
Price is right, well done for your apple juice and water yesterday outside at the pub and in such a tempting situation with your friends - that is great. You should revel in feeling proud of yourself!!
BHB - well done for not buying any beer too!Edited to add: since I've quit the drink, I'm remembering a lot more stuff0 -
What do you think?
