    Evening all

FUAS - glad to hear a fellow radio 2 listener! I'm an addict. God...how old am i......

    Fay...don't fret - I'm having a mulligan too...see below!

Annie - don't beat yourself up. This is life...every day is a NEW day!

Netttie - you get the award for jokes today!!!! PMSL!!

Ok, I've had a lovely day..trip to Ikea in Bristol, time with OH and Piglet. And we finished the day off with a visit to Tesco for Gammon for tea. Bottle of wine ended up in the basket. I've frantically cycled on the exercise bike to earn some calories ...not a pretty sight...so am hoping to even out on the calorie front. Not TOO annoyed at myself about the wine. I'm happy so its not a bad thing to be drinking. Once a week isn't bad? However, my target for June is completely shot....and its only the 6th!!!

    Hope everyone is ok?!

    Miss P

P.S Forgot to say - me and OH very excieted - we have decided to save clubcard vouchers towards a holiday to IOW next may....will try and save as much as we can and take Piglet on as many days out as possible!
    xx

ThankyouJo, Winebox and Orchid. Hopefully i am back on track and definately AF today.I am stopping, not cutting down but feel i have "spoiled it" for June so I am opting out of my 30 day committal ( being as i already failed!!! ) and just doing one day at a time. Today I have done AF

Thankyou all for being here, it makes THE difference in my drinking.

    xx

    Good for you :T

One day at a time works for me - I couldn't commit for a month.
I wake up everyday, and say to myself that I will not drink today. I don't think about tomorrow, next week, or say a holiday in a few months. I can get through today without a drink, come what may. I don't know (and don't want to see) if I could manage a month.
In the past, when I have said I will not drink for a month, week, Mon-Fri, etc
I could never stick to them for that long.
I CAN stick to not drinking for today
I may have a drink tomorrow, who knows, but I'll make that decision tomorrow with a clear head.

Can I ask why you picked up a drink after a really long period of not having a drink?
You made the decision to drink, so if you know why you made that decision, it could help prevent it in the future.
Examining ones motives and actions is very helpful in keeping sober. Self-awareness basically

oooh GC, glad you're there, what's the HALT thing you say?

I can only remember Hungry and Tired, been trying to remember what the A and L stand for?

I have discovered that if I fancy a drink then all I need to do is eat and it eases the craving, gonna be as big as a bus mind

Hi all, BB, Miss P, Jo, Fay and anyone else I have missed, sorry!

Fay and Miss P, don't worry, it's only one day at a time not everyday of the rest of your life

No winebells for me tonight and a teetotal weekend!

40sm can you put me on 6 when you do the scores on the doors please.

Talking of which, time for a cuppa methinks then HIGNFY extended version, then off to bed after I have chucked the contents of my wardrobe on the floor until tomorrow

    Quite right:
    Hungry
    Angry
    Lonely
    Tired

The T could also be thirsty - I remember about 10 days of being AF I really really wanted a beer. Like more than ever.
When I told someone they asked me how much water I had drank that day. No way near enough. So one litre of water later, and guess what. That craving for a beer subsided

This sounds like its turning into a sleepover party!!

    :)

told my brothers i am needing to go to bed early (a tiny fib) and so i am not seeing them tonight - how come i am ok in virtual life but in real life people just overwhelm me

i think folks turning up out of hte blue just doesnt work for me WHICH IS SELFISH I KNOW - we had a lovely day today and i am needing to just get some me time. I HAVENT SPENT ANYTIME WITH THIS BROTHER SINCE I WAS 16 - UM 25 YEARS AGO - HE'S EXPECTING US TO JUST 'BOND' - ASIDE BIOLOGY SADLY WE DON'T REALLY HAVE ANYTHING IN COMMON - ITS A BIT OF AN ODD SENSATION..........I SOUND A BIT HEARTLESS EH?

bb your post was really thoughtful - hope you are ok dude x

Not at all Fay ..... I am the same with my family ..... and If I was honest is part of the reason we were thinking of moving up your neck of the woods (I say woods .... but .... you know ... not many trees ;)). Mrs BHB and I were discussing it in a quite corner today and she said ... but they would come to saty for a week or fortnight at a time then .... not just a few hours :eek::eek::eek::eek: !

I am the same with my brother as you are with yours, we meet every few months round my parents house, we have zero in common apart from we are both alcoholics (him much more seriously so, than me). What do you talk about ?? It just seems like we try to get on to please our mum and dad, but I don't think we have been close particularly .... ever.

It has driven Mrs BHB to the red wine this evening. She is being good and only having half a bottle.

I am on the fizzy water and .... get this ....Blossom Cottage Morello Cherry Cordial, no less. Scrumptious !!

I did sniff the wine and promptly informed Mrs BHB that it smelt like a cross between xmas pudding and cheese .... My nose and taste buds have really gone weird since giving up

    Best Wishes
off now to catch up with the millions of posts.

    BHB
