The giving up/cutting down alcohol support thread! Part 3

Hi all
eselt - I thought the same thing when I read it - but I guess it's from 1972, when perhaps more 'classism' existed than today? Or perhaps just in a more overt form?
Well, I've been to 2 more meetings this week. Had adrink last Saturday as you know, and then had a bottle on tuesday night. Apart from that nothing. And given tonight is a Friday night and my car broke today, I feel a sense of calm about it all. Very strange. Perhaps there is something to this AA stuff after all!
I'm really hoping that day by day I can continuie this? I was given the big book by another member, which I thought was really kind of them, and have been slowly reading through it. While I am not drinking during hte day, with no job and everything gone, I do believe that that is truely a 'yet' unless I sort this out.
I do hope everyone is ok - I've got 7 pages to read (and I have settings to read the most on each page!) so think that I'm not gonna catch up

Hi guys. I need you and I need this thread! I'm awake when I shouldn't be and the hangover is starting to kick in. I got drunk and then came home and ate loads of rubbish. So now I'm feeling fat and miserable. I wouldn't consider myself an alcoholic but there is a definite psychological dependence. I made sure I had a double vodka and a glass of wine before meeting some people as I couldn't imagine going to a bar stone-cold sober. I'm basically fed up of the effect alcohol is having on my life and having so many days-after ruined because I wanted "just a couple of drinks". I'm a bit anxious about signing up for this challenge because it makes it official that I'm trying to cut down. It's madness that I think that saying I will aim for 20 AF days will be quite a challenge.
You guys all seem a lovely bunch of people, so, if you don't mind, can I join in please!
Well done to all of you for your amazing achievements so far and good luck for the future.0 -

Morning all and welcome to Hopeful.
This is a great thread and you are more than welcome. I am only cutting down and not giving up so it is for all sorts and targets. No need to feel anxious at all.
Everyone is different and hope to see you later today.
Still not AF day yet but will be today. Need to get a score on the board
Take care all

Welcome Hopeful!
I had a terrible nights sleep so I feel like I went out on the lash last night and got in at 2.30am, even though I did not and was sat stone cold sober on the setee all night. Bloomin marvellous!
Nice joke WBF, ho ho ho!!
RA I read your list last night and a number of points struck a chord with me, an 18 year slow burn for these points but not all.

Welcome Hopeful34, you have definitely come to the right place, there is a great bunch of supportive guys on here who are either stopping drinking or cutting down so a nice mixture....good luck with your challenge I am so glad I joined in here...
Havn't been on for a day or so as have been out and about a lot, have a fancy dress party to go to tonight so have been sorting out cosumes for the whole family phew....still need a couple more bits (out of interest anyone any idea where I might get a bandana!)
Anyway had a blip on Thursday night but it was ok as dh and I decided to have a few drinks whilst watching 2 episodes of Lost and I managed to just have 2 glasses of wine (smallish) by not shoving it down my neck but taking it more easy, I think because I hadn't had a drink for a few days it sort of affects me quicker anyway so I don't need as much iyswim..also ended up with half a bottle in the fridge and managed to stay af last night yay
sorry for the waffle just came on here really to say 4 af days for me so far 40SM...
I will hopefully get a chance later to catch up with all the posts so hugs to everyone and have a nice weekend (weather carp here though)...xxxJun GC £250.00/£12.40 NSD 3 / 30

Same with me. It's typical. I'm shattered today, I was tossing and turning all night and I was totally sober last night.:D
I don't know if I will be AF today, I will check in later. I hope everyone has a good day today.:A
