I am a cutter downer too and have reduced my intake to at least one third what it was at the beginning of the year :j I just drink at weekends now instead of every single night :eek:

They prefer gardens and soil to pots but they grow happily in pots - most recommend to put them in the garden though - if you have space in the garden they prefer being there.

I have written three emails today for friends visiting this month - saying not to bring alcohol - nicely and please.

(I know THEY are on holiday) they normally bring me bottles of wine as thank you's - most of these chums don't drink much if at all.

I am finding it hard to be informative and not obsessive sounding mad woman.

Can you stick on some nice music or something that will remind you of nice stuff (for me its abba or other silly stuff) or immerse yourself in a book?

This is very common - when you haven't drunk for a while, the fog lifts a little. You also realise you have things called emotions that had been drowning under a sea of alcohol for so long.
I needed to talk about these emotions, to put words and sounds to them, and that made me understand them, and rationalise them. If they remained in my head and were not aired, they would drive my crazy.
The truth is very powerful, but some of it is unpleasant. Alcohol hides truth, from oneself and others.

I drank because I find normal life hard, and alcohol was the solution. However, it stopped working, and compounded my problems in life.
So I stopped drinking, and then dealt with life!

Fay sweetheart I am so sorry to hear about your sil ((())) hugs. My father had a bowel cancer op 2 years ago now, (it was on Friday 13th). Yes me and the number 13 again Touch wood he has been ok since. So I do hope things will be ok with your sil. Glad the parcel arrived, did it arrive intact? I wasn't sure if the cello wrapping would be ok? The heart wind chime is so when it tinkles you can think of all of us lot, the rose quartz is for love and the socks are the jokey bit I have kept finding heart confetti and shredded pink paper though, still it beats the dust. Oh before I go my meditation class was good, seats were sooooooooooooo uncomfortable though and I couldn't switch off properly, thinking of Jo's results etc. But the monk was funny, told a story about a photocopier at the centre and how he was getting annoyed at it and thinking that it was in some way responsible for him feeling unhappy? Made me smile as when ours at work goes wrong I just get so frustrated with it and really it is only a machine. I did feel good but then it wore off when I went into work. Still perseverance it will have to be. Oh and one more thing I have allowed myself some alchohol days this month. But I have found as yet I don't want any alcohol, and I would feel so naughty if I bought any wine? We shall see. Big difference though from the end of last year......................
