I can see what you are saying definitely but I don't feel like I am at the crisis point. I know I shouldn't have to be at one to stop it's true but I am not ready to say that I am quitting completely. I don't know if I ever will be. It's just not the right time for me right now. Maybe my mindset will change at some point in the future.

I read on another forum about drinkers having blackouts and one man said he woke up from a blackout whilst he was driving down a highway and he didn't know where he was or how long he had been driving for.

That sounds like me (again) !
I could not bear the thought of not drinking again, it was so beyond the realms of possibility. So I tried to cut down (for years) - only drinking certain drinks, certain days, etc. Stopping drinking was never right for me - there were always reasons why I couldn't stop (like weddings coming up, my job demanded it, it's a source of happiness) - all the excuses complete nonsense of course.
However, if I controlled my drinking, I couldn't enjoy it. If I wanted to enjoy it, it was out of control. That's why moderation could never work for me, I rarely was able to stop after one drink

My drinking got worse as I got older - alcoholism is a progressive disease.

This disease I have is like licking honey off a razor blade

But is it not easier to, at least, take control now, before it comes near impossible to?.

It is BHB but I, for one, am not ready yet :o
The photo is there also to show me what I could loose.

    Good man :T:T:T

On a positive note just having 3 AF free days in succession gives your liver the change to regenerate!

I think cutting down is perfectly ok for some of us. Those of us who are should be proud too I think, and I am in total control on the nights I drink - I never get ill or make a fool of myself & always know when to stop, but for health reasons mostly - I knew I needed to cut down and I have and am proud of that :D

Some people need to stop altogether but some of us are fine cutting down so long as WE remain in control of IT and not the other way around IMHO ;)

So right FB - if you can cut down, then great. And most people can regulate their intake

I couldn't cut down successfully, so I stopped altogether

Who's woken up after a night out and not known where they are or who they are with??

Or is that just me???? (ahem)

Thankfully I woke up with my partner, but to be honest that was probably more LUCK than any judgement I made.

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Phew!

I'll plead the 5th amendment, or whatever, on that one.

I agree with all the above :D:D:D. Or at least, can understand where each person is "coming from".

GC hope you're not ofended by this but when you say you were wetting the bed, sleeping rough & vomiting all day, that sounds VERY extreme to me, & I would deffo realise I had a problem in those circs. I realise I have a problem now & I'm nowhere near that state of affairs!

What I'm trying to say is, I hope I am nipping the problem in the bud early enough, not by stopping but by realising where I might be heading & cutting down long before I get to the point you did.

I'll never be as good as fluffy & always be in control, I hope I will be most of the time but will undoubtedly get bladdered at some point (this coming Saturday very likely), & as long as it's
    - occasional
    - in fun company
    - nothing important to do next day ie driving, work
then I will probably always do so, & enjoy it. Hangovers are very very rare with me & I never throw up.

What I don't like about my drinking at the mo is not so much the amount I drink but the fact I'm not enjoying it. Must confess I love getting riproaring drunk, but every night? Nah.

    Oops going on a bit.

Good luck with your regime ym.

    Hi spinning sheep.

keeping it all crossed for you Jo.
