Was in Tesco last night and the berocca is on offer 3 for 2 until the 16th June. I should have really picked some up but even on offer it's not cheap enough for me.
I've had 2 Kudzu about 2 hours ago and am really struggling not to open the vodka - am trying to wait until tonight, it's just so nice outside and even though I've lots to do I feel lathargic. that darn t of m again!!!
anyway well done everyone for the month of May :T0 -

Hello all,
It's been a few days since I've posted as the head has been so busy since the first therapy session. Haven't had chance to read through all of the posts but to those having a really difficult time of it my heart goes out to you.
Well if anyone is constantly trying to cut down and keeps going back to their old ways then I wholeheartedly advise completely cutting out alcohol for a period of time. That phrase 'completely cutting out' used to drive terror into me when I was trying to cut down but now I'm doing it it's a revelation. Six weeks with no booze now and I tell you a hell of a lot comes to the surface when you stop. All the little things in life you weren't aware of as you numbed them or shouted them down with a nice bottle of Chardonnay, come screaming at you - you can't escape them. Sound terrifying? - it is! But, you then start to realise that a.) you must face them head on and b.) they were partly what was driving you to drink too much in the first place.
I won't bore you with all my details but for instance I've realised I'm sick to death of my job in its current form - I thought I loved it but actually have realised I was just getting through my working days by looking forward to a bottle of wine at the end of it! I'm bored and have actually lost my confidence in my work. Have already started to make changes by arranging to see my line manager to 'discuss things'. Would never have done this if there had still been bottles of wine around to numb the day.
Have today begun reading a book called 'HAPPIER' by Tal Ben-Shahar and boy is it hitting the nail on the head with how I've been living. The main point being 'hedonistically' - living completely in the moment and constantly searching for instant pleasure even if you know the after effect will be a negative one - sums me up completely! Just hoping it continues with help on how I stop this! Will let you know if it continues to be any good.
Hope everyone is enjoying the hot weather and those AF days still have fun in them.0 -

welcome to the ride!
it ain't easy but it is surprising what the booze has been blocking out...your own potential is one of the things that suffers.....and with that goes your confidence...I mean your REAL confidence as you begin to feel powerless.
I was asked recently why I had stopped by someone who knew me well and I gave a wry smile and couldn't really give just one answer...the full truth would have been a bit much for them....
they were still sceptical when they said "what, you've not had anything???"
just shows how hard it is to believe sometimes I suppose.
take care everyone...
constant vigilance...as always.....For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070 -
