Hi everyone! Thanks for even more kind words to lift my spirits.
I'd really like to join your challenge if that's ok. So far I've drank no alcohol in May so that makes 3 days. I am aiming for all 31!
With the sitting at home lonely thing people have I used to get this after I split from 4 years with an ex and the only thing to do is pamper pamper pamper! Sounds silly but drinking is only upsetting yourself in the long run and pampering is doing the total opposite even if you just stick your feet in the washing up bowl and paint your nails a ridiculously bright colour! I still make an effort to do this on tuesday evenings while my OH is working baby in bed and I can barley stand up after two 12 hour shifts on my feet.
I want to change my nail colour asap as it is reminding me of my pure beer guilt from wednesday. How can so much terror follow something that most people find fun. I have to say i despise alcohol now and no longer myself so thank you all for that and here's to the straight and narrow! *sips lovely hot chocolate with little marshmallows!*

Morning.
Sitting proudly after having completed 7 AF free days. I won't deny hearing a tinkling, but turned the music up as I started to paint the kitchen woodwork (a project started by my dear DH 15 months ago but I have only just got off my bum and got on with it.)
BB thaks for the book tip. I've just altered my diet and been off red meat for two weeks, it was just something I no longer enjoyed. Also your general uplifting vibe is wonderful.
Kelly hot chocolate is my new stella artois, probably equal in calories but oh I love to sleep now
More painting planned for today.DC.

Morning all:j
Not an AF day for me either yesterday:o Footie team that DS1 plays for had their cup final yesterday - it was a draw and the match must be replayed. If the ref had blown the whistle 60 seconds earlier they would have won - the other team got a last, very last minute goal:eek: They played an extra 5 mins each way, but still no result. We had arranged to take the team bowling after the match to either celebrate a win or soften the blow of losing. It still went ahead - the boys weren't too bothered, but the parents were all stressed to the rafters:rolleyes: so a bevvy or two was in order. However, coz I had to pay for my wine  I didn't drink too much, and there was none in the house when I got home:T
BH Monday today - house-hunting again. Am taking DD1 to view the shortlisted houses. Will make a decision tomorrow after sleeping on it.
Hope you all enjoy your day, whatever you are doing.

Well done on the 7 days DC. My DH started painting our bedroom when I was pregnant with our youngest . One wall remains done and the baby is now 5.5  . Also I have now gone off the colour ( just as well as B&Q have stopped selling it :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:) . I am going to have to do it myself but husband does not want me to because I am rubbish at DIY ( pot calling kettle) and more importantly I suffer from back problems. As you can probably tell my home is more a no-show home than a show home:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.

:eek:Morning everyone.
Morning BB - hope you are feeling better today. Did you have a weep at Secret millionaire ? Please put me down for another AFD ( now 3 in total ):j.
I also liked the quote from the Louise hay book . I don't have that book but I have most others :eek:. I am a bit of a sucker for self-help / self improvement books. I even trained to be a life-coach  . I know how to help others but don't practice what I preach :
1. Drink too much
2 Need to lose a bit of weight.
3. Need to paint the bedroom ( see previous post )
4. Need to stop the kids ruling the roost !!
Never mind - May is the month to change all that :rotfl:
Have a fabby day everyone

I am slowly but surely aquiring many self help books, Tony Robbins being my latest, but there's a couple in my wishlist in particular.
Being Here: Modern Day Tales of Enlightenment - Ariel Kane and Shya Kane. Anything slightly uplifting always makes me feel like I'm on the road. Just added Louise Hay too. And all this being able to read without a drunken focus on the page is very relaxing.
Part of my 'better May' challenge is to feel better about me. Been looking at meditation guides this morning, all very similar, but I guess it's something I have 'do' to learn.
Anyway best not attempt to meditate while painting......
Good luck with your DIY, my DH was a perfectionist, undercoats etc, I'm afraid I don't have so much time and patience, but have set myself a little task each day !DC.

Morning everyone,
Thanks for kind words. Am feeling a lot more positive today. Yesterday was ridiculous - sitting on my own drinking the hours away like that. I have so much to be thankful for and am going to start practicing the recommendation here about being grateful for at least 1 thing every day.
Getting off my a**e and going into town - shopping list is Kudzu, Berocca and lots of water/juice (Jo - you're doing so well BTW - Inspiring). Think I might also catch the new Michael Caine film "Is Anybody There?" - looks a bit sentimental but hopefully has the feelgood factor.
Have a good day whatever you're up to.

Good idea. I could do with pampering myself actually. I think I might buy myself a gorgeous new nail colour this week and try that. I actually have a foot spa gathering dust in a cupboard so I shall go and dig that out too.
My diet starts today as well as being AF today. I have half a stone I need to shift for this May challenge.
2/4 for me today BB.
