    Morning all

    Well done chaps and chappesses

Another AF one for me - :) beginning to get a bit scared of even thinking about wine - need mufflers for DA BELLS.

Jo - please stick up some photos of progress in your garden :) Well done for getting out there and chopping things to bits.

BB you are on the home stretch now too - pretty soon you will be having your feet up and be able to hand your little flock over to 40SM - hope the tot is better today - sorry misread the bit yesterday thought it was you who was sick not the tottlet.

Still waiting for this energetic, wonderful sparkly shiney new me - the post must have been delayed as I haven't arrived in my new shiny form yet - oh well.

    Have a great day everyone.

Morning all, 10/12 for me now please BB.

Now I am dieting I am finding my hunger is taking my mind off the wine bells. Not that I'm sure I'd recommend this approach though!

    Have a good day everyone.

..does anyone else find that if they don't drink they just keep thinking about what else they can 'treat' themselves to to make up for 'missing out' on a drink

When I stop drinking I notice I have lots more time on my hands. I often think along the lines of treating myself, even something small like walking to the shop to buy a chocolate bar. When I was drinking I didn’t enjoy much and even eating chocolate wouldn’t be enjoyable because I’d feel sick. Now we have more time we can treat ourselves or do something fun. I guess there’s not much difference between treating ourselves and enjoying life in general. Anyway, this is far too philosophical for this early in the morning… ;)

18th day for me today. I realised that is the most days I have managed to be AF in a month this year.:j

I found a little gold music box my friend gave me and I wrote down the date when I last had an alcoholic drink on a piece of paper and put it in inside. I put £10 in so far and I am going to keep putting a bit extra in and see how it adds up. If I am honest I could be putting £10 in a day or even £30-£40 which is what I would spend on alcohol on a night out but now that seems too much so I am just going to add to it whenever I have a serious craving for booze.:T

I have been reading through other online alcohol support groups and it is amazing how I can relate to so many people's stories.

Hope everyone is okay today. I think everyone is doing great because this is hard work but we are all trying.:A

Orchid, they certainly aren't babies for long, enjoy every minute (if you can ) I can barely believe I'm old enough to have a 17yr old doing A-Levels

MP, hope work wasn't too bad last night, it's true it's like you've never been away when going back after a holiday. I remember after the summer holidays last year when I'd been off for 6 weeks, at the end of the first day it felt like I'd never had a day off!

Maman, congrats on the AF lunch/day, it's amazing what strength we have to use compared to other people.

Lurks, you're lucky having 3 to do in 5, you can drink on Friday and Saturday with no worries....unless of course you like drinking when footies on, then there might be difficulties

Cardboard Chewer, the evenings are longer and I do find I want to be eating/drinking/doing something all the time as I'm missing something. Wanted choklit last night but couldn't go buy any as the only shop open was the offy, far too early days to be venturing in there

115K, congrats for beating your previous targets :D good idea about putting the money away, save for something nice :)

Fay, your energetic sparkly new self will arrive very soon, at the moment you are stressing about work stuff too which doesn't help matters. Go back to April and see how many days you are at now, you are doing great :D

I caught a glimpse of myself yesterday and noticed that I looked slightly more alive (sorry Fay), I don't tend to look in the mirror very often, the physco lady last year that I went to see managed to get me to say that that's because I don't really like what I see, which is true. But anyway, skin looks slightly clearer and not puffy, eyes are white not yellow and I looked like I'd had a decent nights sleep. Excema on hands is slowly improving too. Still feel pretty carp though, dizziness is on it's way out, gotta go GP tonight to ask for blood pressure to be taken and get him to send me for a blood test for iron, kidney function, glucose and the other basic stuff (I might ask him to put down a liver function test on there too to set my mind at rest, or not depending on results). Got sore throat this morning and sore chest. I'm looking forward to the day when I can wake up (un-hung-over'ed) and feel great!!

Something made me giggle last night, I used to drink in secret and hated trying to hide the drink and drink it without anyone finding out. So I used to have a bath everynight so that I could lock the door and drink openly. Last night I was DYING for choklit and remembered that I had half a toblerone hidden away. OH is on a diet, plus if he knew I had the only choklit in the house, he'd want some...thing was, it was mine, all mine. So I run a bath and sat in it eating the choklit all to myself :rotfl: same time last week I was necking beer, this week it's toblerone :rotfl:

Hope you all have a lovely day :)

    xx

Have you had a liver function test before Jo? I have had one and it was okay but I would like to have another one but I worry that my GP will have a go at me for not stopping drinking since last time.

Or anyone else do you know if GP's are mean to you if you go back and say you have problems with drinking still?:o I don't know why I'm worried about asking for help but I always think that doctors look at me and think I look fine and that I can't have been a heavy drinker as I'm never ill and I look generally healthy and young(ish) still.

Mine is great. It is an illness after all. They are there to help..... and you are paying their wages through your taxes! If they are horrible change to another GP ...thats what I reckon :D
