Am up to page 25 of the old thread and am really loving all the pics, ideas and tips. Have decided that as I now have a daughter and will soon have a girly room to decorate... I'm going to go 'shabby chic'. I'm hoping that I can manage a look that is pretty and girly without being childish so that she can update it a little as she grows older without having to get rid of everything. Of course she may hate the style and want to change it totally but at least I'll be able to enjoy it until then lol
Have seen some MDF heart shapes on ebay for £2 each and am thinking that I could paint a chest of drawes and then paint these and glue on... just need to think of colours and find a chest of drawers to paint... arggh I keep thinking of things and coming acroos more inspiration lol and I;m going to be on here all night wanting to do EVERYTHING lolJune Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

I love all your makes - great inspiration. I have been lurking on this thread for quite a while and have also been looking for some "new" dining chairs on ebay to go with my 1940's dining table. The ones I have got are horrible as you can see in the picture below - 1980's regency reproduction complete with dodgy treacle brown varnish and stained pink velvet covers. Also the foam on the seats has compacted over the years and staples had begun sticking through. After being outbid on yet another set of chairs last weekend and inspired by this thread I decided to try painting and recovering the chairs. You can see below the chair I finished and one of the others that I have yet to do for comparison. I sanded the chair and painted it with three coats of Farrow and Ball in Farrow's Cream. I recovered the seats using some Indian Patchwork that I originally bought off ebay to use as a wallhanging, but when it arrived it was much too large, I also added new foam. My DD came to visit and actually thought I'd bought a new chair!!0

Linda - chair looks great. Isn`t it amazing what a coat of paint and some new fabric can do.
Reminds me of when I found a 1920`s mahogany dining chair at CBS. It cost me £1.50. After repairing the leg and giving the wood a good clean (it didn`t need painting) I reupholstered it. It looked so different.
DH says we have an old chair in the loft from my upholstery course days. Must investigate and see what I can do with it.0 -
I think the chair looks fab, sadly my dining chairs are broken and DH has tried to fix so I'm on the lookout for solid chairs that I can refurbish. Ikea has some lovely fabric that I'm hoping to use.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0
