Ginga,
I find remnant bins in fabric shops (curtain departments are good for this) are excellent places to look for patchworking material.
And in charity shops, look at the clothing bits, some of them can be cut up to make good squares!
Am currently doing flat decoupage on some plastic drawer sets I have and being cheeky with the sample wallpaper rolls they have in b&q etc, taking some from all the ones I like (as you would do) and then cut it up a bit smaller and use that for the majority of the decoupage (sssh dont tell!)0 -
OK quite new to the shabby chic bit but like it as it means I can get the furniture I want (any furniture would be good right now).
Well new bedroom - brilliant white walls and gloss work, the bed is a gorgoues antique french one - which I want to keep as plain wood. I have a horrid looking but very sturdy wardrobe and a telephone/bedside shelf that I want to turn into chabby chic.
The airing cupboard is also in the room so would like to tie in that door knob with everything else.
So what colour do I paint the furniture, ideas on soft furnishings? bed linen at the moment is red/cream, I do have some gorgoues curtains which are currently in the 'library' (house not that posh I just have a room full of books - hence nicknamed the library) and some spare material to make a throw for the bed but am not sure it would fit in with the chabby chic look.
Right have drivelled on made no sense at all, just need pointing in the right direction I think - if only I had a creative imagination to match vaguley competent practical skills.0 -

Do you have to host them on Flickr first?
Yes, you need a photo host site eg Flickr, Photobucket etc
Being a technical incompotent, it took me ages last year to work myself up to trying to load up photos on Flickr & then I found it was dead easy .
I shall post some photos of my current rescue missions, including the manky trolley, as soon as I have worked out how to store the photos onto my new computerDS1 is sending me the details AGAIN
:o I just hope I can load onto Flickr again

You could look at Rachel Ashwell's books for ideas on colours:

I use creams, pale pinks & similar 'washed out' colours that actually aren't wishywashy at all once you really look at them. HTHI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Hi everyone
I am new to this as well but you are all inspiring me! I regulary trawl the charity shops for bits so will now be looking for material as i would love to do a quilt like the one on here - sorry I forgot to note to posters name - it is gorgeous. It might get finished for the next century though as I am always starting things and not finishing!
wanted to say to gingababe - I dont know where you are but look in auction rooms for wardrobes - 'brown' (wooden) furniture is not selling well at the moment and you can pick up solid stuff for peanuts or try antique fairs too.
I am guessing from your comments that F&B is the best paint to use?
I have 2 beech kitchen chairs that have seen better days are were going to get heaved but now I think they will be a project and I could do seat pads to go with my newly painted kitchen.
Thanks for the lovely thread - I must try and find time to read the old one.Peace will be mine
could do better - must try harder

Does anyone have any suggestions of good fabric websites that are nice and cheap?
I used to visit an american one a lot but have completely forgotten the name of it and the email account I used with it is completely dead0 -

The old thread has good info about F&B, but I am not quite sure exactly where! Obviously, there are cheaper alternatives.
I use the F&B oil eggshell as it gives a good coverage on slightly dodgy surfaces. It is pricy but I aim for Homebase 10% off days;)I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
