Luxor - I checked the Dunelm website for the storage tins you mentioned and could not see any. I guess I will have to take a trip over there, maybe they have not updated the website yet.

I could not find them online either, but they were instore with the kitchen things. They had biggish round tins with a plastic cannister style lid (wire clips), a rectangular tin (big enough for biscuits) and a smaller upright rectangular one witha plastic cannister lid. They are bright red with cheery 1930s style Kelloggs adverts - I liked the girl on a swing, but there are about 4 other designs. hth

Hello everyone :hello:, I am new to this thread. Like you I too am a fan of all things shabby-chic and vintage, I usually pick stuff up at carboot sales, ebay or my local household/general auction house. Luckily hubby is handy with tools and can fix old furniture and put new tops onto tables etc.

I had this shabby-chic style enamel peg basket in the shed and decided to give it an alternative use as a windowsill planter. Its got miniture sunflowers and yellow pansies pinched from our front garden in it. Im not sure how "miniture" the miniture-sunflowers will end up so it might have to go outside if it gets too tall

Ooh a nice new 'chic' thread.

GB your quilt is gorgeous, love the chest of drawers, what colour paint did you use.

Went to a jumble sale yesterday. Picked up some great bargains, a pretty white crochet cushion cover 10p, a lovely cheese dish and lid with little mice on, and a little shell jug - will try and do pictures.

Busy painting some old chairs and need to sand down a chest of drawers but rained today, so nothing done today. Busy sewing instead..

There ya go...sorry to take up so much space dont know how to do it smaller...middle one also demonstrates where the nitromorse missed the paper so will have to revarnish that bit!! Knob shows how gorgeous the pattern is! Inside is a drawer (top) and shelf mid cupboard so lots of room for mags and books rather than on the floor by my bed lol! What do people think? Did wonder how to get cleaner paint lines but used eggshell so seems to show the brush marks more than gloss...any ideas? Want the shabby but not too shabby look lol!

In Search - I think your bedside cupboard looks lovely - the knob is gorgeous. I think the finish looks fine, but if you want a smoother finish perhaps a paint roller or one of those sponge pad thingies might help.

You can get small rollers for emulsion and also rollers for gloss paint too. I often use rollers on larger flat areas saving the brush work for legs and fiddly bits. You can get a smooth finish and it can be quite quick too.

    Hope that helps.
