    Hi everyone!
I don't know if anyone is near Liverpool but Lewis's is closing down and has a lot of Shabby Chic things reduced. There's no Dizzy Dizzy discounts yet because I think they only announced it a few weeks ago and it's mainly knick-knacks - no decent furniture unfortunately :(
They also have a lot of the V & A - bedspreads and stuff reduced from £50 to £20, definitely worth a nosey!

Lolly the dresser is gorgeous, i would love to have something like that in my kitchen.

Hi everyone, i'm new to the thread but have been reading with interest. I'm currently redoing my entire house, its rented but its a pit. My front room is done sort of, my kitchen well its getting remade by us but i'm slowly prettifying it.

anguk:- my kitchen is the same, it has no natural light in the slightest , looks like a prison and bars on the window (cheers landlady). So i'm painting all of the walls /ceiling white to make it brighter. Recently made some creamish curtains out of an old bed sheet and hung that over the windows. It looks nicer than i've described it. The curtains are so thin that they block out the bars but let lots of natural light through. To add colour to the kitchen i'm placing coloured candles, shells etc around it to offset the white. Not sure what else but just thought i'd share mine with you.
    I think i have described right :o.
I think I'm going to go with cream for the walls, it should be light and hopefully make the room seem a bit warmer.

Has anyone used Dulux Light and Space Matt? It's supposed to make a room feel brighter and reflect up to twice as much light back into the room compared to normal emulsion. I'm not sure how hardwearing it would be in the kitchen, I like to be able to wash the walls down.

I used the B & Q own colour scheme brand and it really is bright. My sister used the dulux light and space in her kitchen and it was utter tosh, she reckons it made the room darker. Could have just been her though.

Thanks, I wondered if the dulux paint would work. I've just picked up some colour charts in B&Q this morning, I'll have a look at their own brand colours.

Do I need to use eggshell or satinwood for the kitchen unit doors? I quite like Dulux Willow Tree but it's one coat satinwood, would that be okay?

    Calling Tif!!!

Tif, Just found out we're moving house (again) in the summer and wondered if you'd like to have the bureau that I acquired from the skip the other week. We live near Salisbury so we could easily meet up. Let me know and if you'd like it I'll mentally mark it for you.

i'm new to the forum, and how excited was I to dicover a shabby chic post. I have just moved into my first home and the theme for one of the bedrooms is shabby chic. The previous owners have left behind a chest of drawes that is white, with three draws. However, as is so common with drawers, the bottoms are falling out a bit. It would be such a shame to chuck it as I would love to give it a makeover but need to strengthen the draw bases. Any ideas on how to do this? x
Hmmm will add up debt and stick on on later!
