Has anyone done a beautiful office?!
I want to change our office in to something more than a box room with a computer. My husband works from home now and again so i dont want it to be too floral and girlie so i need to get a good balance of macho and feminine, and vintage/retro
Any ideas and suggestions - pics would be great!
If you went for the union jack, you could accessorise with blue and white striped boxes for storage, with a leaning towards a nautical theme, or towards the 'country vicar's study' look with a bit of chintzy stuff but with lots of old oak/wood and faux leather boxes for storage.

  • Hi everyone!
I don't know if anyone is near Liverpool but Lewis's is closing down and has a lot of Shabby Chic things reduced. There's no Dizzy Dizzy discounts yet because I think they only announced it a few weeks ago and it's mainly knick-knacks - no decent furniture unfortunately :(
They also have a lot of the V & A - bedspreads and stuff reduced from £50 to £20, definitely worth a nosey!
On another note, any ideas on where I can get three decent bookcases from - preferably in a lightish wood like Pine? I know it's not technically Shabby Chic but it's to do with getting something cheap so it's kinda relevant. I'm in Crewe and there doesn't seem to be any Freecycles I can sign up, I tried the Liverpool one but they said my postcode was too far out :(

Lolly the dresser is gorgeous, i would love to have something like that in my kitchen.

Hi everyone, i'm new to the thread but have been reading with interest. I'm currently redoing my entire house, its rented but its a pit. My front room is done sort of, my kitchen well its getting remade by us but i'm slowly prettifying it.

anguk:- my kitchen is the same, it has no natural light in the slightest , looks like a prison and bars on the window (cheers landlady). So i'm painting all of the walls /ceiling white to make it brighter. Recently made some creamish curtains out of an old bed sheet and hung that over the windows. It looks nicer than i've described it. The curtains are so thin that they block out the bars but let lots of natural light through. To add colour to the kitchen i'm placing coloured candles, shells etc around it to offset the white. Not sure what else but just thought i'd share mine with you.
    I think i have described right :o.
