Managed to strip the drawer fronts on my dressing chest today. MiL brought round her sander for me to do the top with and then I can wax it. Once it is waxed and sorted, I will get it moved up to my bedroom. Then I can get the top section out into the kitchen and start stripping that off. It's a shame that the lady who owned it previously started to sand it because it has made the top colour uneven. I may even have to bleach it to get the colour even. I'm off to homebase tomorrow to try and find briwax. I want to see what shades they do. I can also use the wax on the handles apparently.
I'm really looking forward to having the space back in my kitchen. Then I can get on and finish tiling!

Aldi have paint on their special at the moment at very good prices. In particular a really pretty looking grey. I picked up three tins of multisurface paint in matt white for £3.99 each. I'm going to use it on the brown fitted wardrobe doors I just won on ebay for 99p and my darkwood bootsale table £3 that will be a dressing table. That's not going to be for a few weeks yet though as we go camping next week!

I guess its what you have to hand. The fiddly bits by hand and the longer easier bits by sander.

My fabric has come for behind the glass of me bookcase.
Picture on my blog if you're interested :)

Love that fabric. Did you get it from Ebay? I think I might have been watching it at one point. It would go so well in my hall. I've painted it red and the house is done very much in the style of Voysey who was very much into birds. I wondered about covering a canvas or similar in some fabric to get some texture into the hall.

Yes I bought it from ebay. Its a lovely red I have to say. Its not a thick fabric as that would be too bulky behind the glass.

I've finished waxing the unit and put it in my bedroom. I've stripped the mirror bit too now. Hope to wax it soon. Still need to strip the mirror supports tomorrow so I'll do them before I wax the other bit. Then I can get it all reassembled and put my glass bits on it :D. Going to put the drawer liners in it later on tonight. Then I can put our clothes away and stop DH from hogging the space with his big pants!

Saw these things on LIDL today and thought of some of you... The nail/stapler gun may be useful for upholstery?

The air spray gun and the sandblaster may interest some of you too
