I've used both wallpaper and wrapping paper for this before and both work well - wallpaper wrinkled a lot less though! I don't know how easy napkins would be. A few people have used them successfully to cover things but I much prefer a smooth finish that I think would be hard to get from these. It completely depends what finish you'd like!

What did you use on your birdhouse? I'm just after something with a small print really that I can easily cut out...

    Thanks for your reply!

Oh and what type of varnish would you recommend? I looked the other day in B&Q and there were loads of diff types!

Thanks for reply. Do you think a beginner could do it though or is it more of an advanced shabby chicer skill? x

I'm a total beginner at this Jem and midway through my 1st project of painting an old darkwood dresser and I definitely think you could do it. Just make sure you prep it first and it should be fine! Go for it and good luck x

A beginner could do it. If you do somehow manage to muck it up, you can just start again, or paint it allover! Go on, its lovely.....

Thanks for the push, hope I get it now x :j

Was intrigued by this one as my parents live in Consett but sadly there are no photos!
  • A quick question .... what the difference between esp and easy sand? which is better?
Easy sand is for wooden surfaces which you would normally sand. ESP is for surfaces such as melamine which you can't sand as you traditionally would and which paint otherwise wouldn't adhere to. So which is better depends on what you are getting ready to paint.

    Hope that makes sense.

ok ok - you must be getting sick of my questions by now but believe me I am learning!;)

I've just cut out the fabric for my daughter's curtains and there is a little left over. If I cut out shapes from material and stuck them to my drawers (Ooh err missus:rotfl::rotfl:) then applied varnish over the top would that work or... should I stick to paper/card...

On a separate note I have noticed that there is a VERY SMALL fault in the material just in one place quite close to the bottom. Question is do I try and take it back or just accept it - not sure anyone else but me will ever notice it. - I am disappointed though...

    Thanks you lot are AMAZING!:A

Been trying to contact the folks or my lil sis all afternoon - I live several hundred miles away so it would have to be useful for them really.

    Thanks
