No, the original handles were either broken or missing. I managed to find some lovely faceted crystal knobs (either at B&Q or Homebase, don't remember which now) and they look perfect!

Ladies, I was in shabby chic heaven yesterday in TK Maxx!!!! I got the following:

Le Creuset cream (almond?) mini casserole pot (they only had one but I am patient and will buy them one at a time till I have a set) - £3.99
Shabby chic cream round cutlery drainer with wooden handle - too cute for cutery so I am using it for pretty odds and ends on dressing table - £2.99
Kilner clear preserving jar - £2.99
Cream ceramic coffee jar - £1
Dark brown rectangular basket with lid (about 60x40x40cm) - £10 (reduced from £25)

    Woo hoo!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like you got some right bargains there. (do you ever stop shopping? ;))

I  Le Creuset, I need to pick a colour and start collecting. Mum reckons it would be cool to collect mismatched pieces but I'm not sure myself what do you think?

I'd love to get any LeCreuset item but have never been able to afford it... maybe my dfree aily clicks money this year will go towards that!

Happy days, my shaker style handles have arrived from ebay, quite pleased with them... only thing is, I now want to use them in the kitchen as well, but as per piccie I posted, kitchen rails on the cupboard are a dark colour, whereas new handles are satin silvery... anyone know where I can get the cupboard vertical rails/bits of metal (there must be a technical term)... I need alot of them but they would modernise and provide a cleaner look...

Ooh, ooh, ooh, guess what I got today? A lady on Freecycle offered 20 chapel chairs. I asked if she would consider me for 4 of them and I got them today. She was even kind enough to drop them off at my house because she only lived down the road.

They're lovely. They're solid wood, with the little shelf bit at the back for holding the prayer books. I've been wanting some for years and years, but they're hard to come by and usually out of my price range when I've seen them being sold.

I feel so lucky to have got them!

Lucky you! I'm surprised they didn't sell them for chapel funds.

I've been wanting an old lab stool for years but no luck so far.

I am looking for some unusual knobs. I have a plain untreated chest of drawers which I intend to paint. I need 12 knobs so they need to be fairly cheap. Can anyone recommend a supplier.

    Thanks Mags

I finally found a cake stand, have been looking for one for a year now! I was in a charity shop and spotted it under some packets of junk. Its cream china, square with a lacy border. It cost me the princely sum of 3 quid, and I don't think its even been used.

I always liked this definition -

Shabby chic is also a general term which can be used to refer to a person who is stylish rather than fashionable, where their style reflects quality as opposed to newness.
