Thinking ahead a few projects but I might as well keep an eye out for the fabric now...
I'm making seat pads, nothing too thick just a bit of wadding sandwiched between the fabric, more decorative really.
Would that sort of think was OK or do they get mishapen? Would quilting it help the wadding stay put?
I'm looking for a quite hardwearing fabric that's not going to get too dirty I guess and if it was a bit sheeny I might get away with wiping them down, any ideas?
The other thing I need to do is recover a poufe cube footstool thing. It's covered at the moment in a really thick upholstery type fabric. I thought about doing a slip that I can remove to wash but not sure how that will work or look. I'd rather get the stape gun out as I think sewing a cube sounds like a nightmare. We are quite a grubby family so it will get dirty!0 -
i don't have that much left, but can buy it from ebay . did you mean select one of the fabrics or make like a patchwork band as the runner ?
but yes thats a very good idea. thankyou. i need all the help i can get. as i just seem to keep drawing a blank. i come up with an idea and it all guns blazing then i think 'oh i not sure'.
One fabric would work well - the patchwork idea sounds great though! And you could use several of the blue shades and make twisted - sort of plait - tie backs.0 -
First off -must say I'm loving all the stuff you all do:T
Had to add a bit about curtains -when I needed some new ones for computer room money was a bit tight but I picked up some curtain lining from charity shop and a couple of voile panels in cream, terracota and a sort of dark grey with swirly patterns on them in cream...........I stitchen them on to the curtain linings and they've made a smashing pair of curtains I think. Room is a bit of an assortment of colour with desk and wood panels painted in a sort of grainy effect that's ''biscuit'' colour (another word for beige ?) -so curtains blend in ok.
I've now aquired a set of shelves meant for videos but theyre just the right size for my notebooks (garden, daily journal etc. They're dark wood at the minute and I want to paint them but not sure what colour..............doubt I'd get the colour I used on the desk and walls as it was so long ago...........lowe part of the wall where it stands is terracotta -top half cream.................any ideas ?
(sorry no piccys -don't have all the technology to do that)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Bargainbird - thanks. Just talking to OH and he suggested the same thing and I think if I go over it with dark oak polish to give it a sort of ''aged'' look it'll fit in ok.
Can't wait now to start it but have to be careful due to back troubles.........;)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Ooh gorgeous BB, I had one very similar which was my granny's, I did it up, and it became the housing for the ultra modern Pioneer stereo my husband bought me when we had no kids and lots of cash, it always looked really cool in there. Its been in storage for years because the glass wasn't shatterproof, I might just have to go and dig it back out! Thank you very much Georgia! I love it myself and, now that the summer holidays are here, I am seriously contemplating moving into it for the peace and quiet!"A cat can have kittens in the oven, but that don't make them biscuits." - Mary Cooper
