I guess it could be shabby chic as I'm going to make some little curtains for the window so that I can stop the sun going right in in the summer and taking the internal temp to boiling point! I've painted the inside cream0 -
That sideboard is gorgeous Debbsi, which paint did you use ?
Deb0 -
Hi
Its farrow and ball french grey0 -
Debbsi, what a pretty and unusual sideboard and a great price, the colour is perfect for it too. You chose a biggy for your first project!
EagerLearner - love your kitchen makeover, the sage green is lovely. What will you do with the floor?
Danemi - Where are you going away - anywhere nice?0 -
bracknell n then brighton - few days break! want to see lots of makeovers when I get back...please lol!!!0

Hi all thanks for comments - Danemi1 no I made the classie 'eager learner' mistake of just cleaning, sanding then painting just with the cupboard paint, I do wish I had used primer and not trusted the tin! But there you go, it looks reasonable and have learned from the experience....
xxvickixx not sure yet about the floor - you see we have a metal grating under the lino for access to sewsage system, but previous owners linod over this then put carpet tiles so I *guess* no one ever needed access. Now we are in a conundrum as to whether to lino over this one with a nicer style (as this terracotta lino has glue strips from carpet etc) or to tile properly. Another problem is that the floor is slightly uneven so MrEL would like to even it out, but that means covering the metal grating even more... If we go for lino it will prob be a stone or natural beige type look.
Today as well as painting 2 more cupboard doors I am also painting my dresser mirror unit - having learnt my lesson have applied primer, then am going to paint once that has dried...
Won some lovely Laura Ashley Isodore duck egg paper earlier on ebay, so planning to place this at the back of glass cupboards in kitchen. Same they have lead on the glass...
Polyskettle that shed looks incredible - so cheerful!
I bought a lovely dark wooden side unit for the living room for just £10 at a carboot last week, (small, enough for a lamp, glass of wine and couple of books on top) very heavy so seems good wood. I will not be painting it but would like to give it some TLC - any ideas folks, given that I don't even know the type of wood? I have some beeswax at home, would that help?
Many thanks and Danemi sounds like a great weekend!MFW #185

Well I finished my blind. I rethreaded it once as there were too many pleats but now I think the bottom hangs down too far, I might put a dowel in the bottom to see what that looks like and am also playing with some trims for the bottom but for now this it it.0

Looks lovely Vicky, so pretty and delicate! I love that shade of blue. We could use your help in our kitchen as our window is naked! Mind you it's north facing so we want as much light coming in as poss, still top of the window could use something. There is already a runner of some sort with some pulleys...
Today am painting bathroom white (nasty sponged orange effect wallpaper in there that clashes terribly with avocado suite), am also finishing kitchen doors, plus painting my dressing table mirror in 'Crochet' which is a light grey and will now match the dresser I painted last year... pics soon!MFW #185
