It worked! I won the dresser it matches the sideboard exactly IYKWIM. So I am really pleased.

Here are the photos of the table I've been working on...

I've only done one chair, this one has since been oiled so the wood matches the table top.

    And now.
    SDC13576.jpg?t=1279696353

The colours have come out a little dark, the top is a mid oak colour.

I'm going to make some seat pads but need to find the wallpaper first and then match the fabric to that. I am looking for blue Toile de Jouy that isn't mega expensive.
LA used to do one which I loved but they've just stopped doing it.

I'm considering putting up a dado rail and papering the bottom half to keep costs down further but I'm struggling to visualise everything.

wow vicki, that looks GORGEOUS, it looks so much warmer & homely. well done, & great about getting your dresser as well.
Have you looked on ebay for the LA paper, as there are several people who sell rolls, I'm not sure if they're old stock or what.

OOer just searched for the paper vickki wants, haven't found it but I've found the paper that I need for somewhere, don't know where, maybe stairway.

How crazy, mad, wonderful is that?
I'm sure it's an acquired taste.

You've done a great job there Vicki. I have only finished one chair and I got mine before you :o. I was busy painting a large built in cupboard in my bathroom at the weekend but I haven't done much apart from that. I am now on the SC wagon. I will not buy anything else until I have finished what I've got. The SC idea is suppossed to save money and I'm spending a small fortune.

Thanks, I've been checking ebay obsessively for the paper. I'm going to give LA customer services a call to see if they can track some down. My local store think they had some until very recently so there's a good chance there is some out there somewhere!
There are some lovely borders on ebay at the moment and I was considering painting blue under and white over with the border in the middle but I think it could look a bit naff.

Don't forget that the bottom half of the wall is the part that will take most knocks etc, especially if you have children, also it would be hidden by all your lovely furniture.
    There's this lovely fabric, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CURTAIN-FABRIC-TOILE-JOUY-STUNNING-BLUE-2-75m-/140425299426?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Crafts_Fabric_Textiles_SM&hash=item20b20005e2

or even betterer, excited now, 10metres, ending todayhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Premium-Toile-Jouy-Linen-Curtain-Upholstery-Fabric-/190418378305?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Crafts_Fabric_Textiles_SM&hash=item2c55d1de41
It may be cheaper to have curtains, table runner & napkins in the fabric & paint the walls?

    Gorgeous table & chairs!

My local B&Q were selling blue toile de jouy paper at £2 a roll last week. They didn't have enough for anywhere I wanted it, but your local might have more?

Ahh how annoying, my one didn't have any. It might be worth going in to ask though to see if they can get a stock transfer.

I am going to get some fabric too, the trouble with doing the windows in it is that I have huge french doors which are 8ft by 7ft and the amount of fabric I'd need and the hugeness puts me right off!
I found some dusky blue curtains though at the boot sale that I am hoping will tie in.
I have a narrower but full length window to the front that I am considering making a blind for with T de J fabric though as I wouldn't need too many meters for that.
