Why not get the Cath Kidston 'Make' book out the library, it has loads of ideas for things to make (erm obviously!). Car boot sales and the junkier kinds of charity shops are good for nice 50's cookware. If you wanna go for larger items that would benefit from a make over (chairs, poofs, the classic standard lamp...), there are lots of furniture charity shops and comunity fuurniture stores around, plus you could always try freecycle.0

I love the idea Tara, have you got an older type house? I saw a lovely china tea set with little pink roses on and it included a china cake stand it was about £15 in a charity shop.0

Le Creuset is never cheap in my experience even in France. Sorry.0 -

Slightly more helpfully, if you're willing to be patient, keep an eye on ebay. People who don't cook buy Le Creuset because it looks good, then get bored with it.
Sorry, it ain't cheap here either! My H wants a mini le creuset pot for christmas and it's €15  you can only fit a poached egg in it!
OP have a look in the charity shop for vintage looking sheets, pillows etc and use those to make peg bags, cushions etc. I made some lovely bunting from some pillow cases I bought in CS - tr!s shabby chicBon App's Scraps!MFb40 # 130 -

Have some deals on leCreuset at the moment. Free postage so worth a look at the site.
Think it might be under "deals of the Week".
Sometimes TJ Hughes or TK Maxx have some of the Le Creuset in but it goes very, very fast."This site is addictive!"

Wow, what a response! Thanks so much for all the tips! I will check out Amazon and eBay, and also TK Maxx (would never have thought of looking there!) and charity shops - I do collect scraps of nice fabric but haven't used any of it yet! I'll also borrow that Make book from the library, would like to buy it but haven't seen it cheap anywhere!
I don't have an older style house - well, it is an Edwardian red brick but not proper period style with high ceilings etc. We are actually renting atm, but looking to buy so it would all be stuff that I can take with me. I saw the most GORGEOUS hall table with little heart-shaped wooden knobs on the drawers, I just fell in love with it but it was quite expensive - still, kicking myself that I didn't buy it. I just tell myself that I can get a different one sometime and change the knobs myself.
I have always loved shabby chic and a visit to a friend's house a month ago has totally inspired me. She is such a craft addict and has made herself lots of lovely cushion covers, peg bags etc - she's even covered chair seats with CK-style fabric. And her crockery is just lovely, all creams and pastels. OH probably won't be too keen but I am happy to buy it all myself, he's relaxed enough about that sort of thing.
Thanks for the links to those threads too, think my search wasn't advanced enough ha ha! All excited now!!!! :beer:Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs
