Have acquired a Lloyd Loom "lusty" laundry box - hinged lid with some horrid fabric on ...it is a greeny gold colour with little ball sort of feet ...... am poss going to sell it - do you think it is worth replacing the fabric on top? It is in excellent condition otherwise
    Hoping someone can help! x

I have a Lloyd Loom blanket box (low but wide with a lid) with probably the same fabric! It's also a goldy colour, which I love, but I think I am going to put some foam on mine before covering it so that I can sit on it at the end of my bed to put my socks on and sit at my dressing table. I did my Mum's dining room chairs this way by cutting the foam out, then stretching the fabric over and using a heavy-duty staple gun to fasten it underneath. Think I'll use nice braiding or brassy tacks on my blanket box to make it a bit of a prettier finish.

Hi, I have quite a lot of nice seashells we have collected over the years and wonder whether anyone has any creative ideas or photos showing what I could do with them? I already have some in my bathroom in a glass vase but still have a load more. Any suggestions would be appreciated. :D

try covering a plantpot with them, cover pot sides in plaster of paris then stick shells into it. Or cover a picture frame or mirror frame with them. can also be attached to the bottom of curtains or ta ble cloth edges with nice bright embroidery thread or similar but you need to drill a hole in each shell.

I'm just this minute reading through a blog I've found, an English lady in Australia who has a gorgeous beach cottage done up on a budget. She collects beach glass and shells, puts them in jam jars, wraps the jar in string and sits a tea light on the top. Very effective.

  • If you look at my last post with the youtube links, look at the first one. They have shells in a cake stand that looks beautiful and you could also sit tealights in it

I know this is going to sound weird, but at my local recylcing centre they appear to save all the best stuff which is then available for people to buy. I don't know how much the items are, but this seems to me to be a good idea.

Mostly wooden furniture - no soft furnishings.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

I remember there being one or more Cath Kidston/shabby chic threads a while back but have one a search and can't find it. I just need some inspiration for my home, want to make some cushions, peg bags etc and not sure where to start! You lovely OS ladies are an inspiration to me and I am determined to get my house looking nice. :D

Also really want some of those little ceramic stoneware pots on bonprix (the 6 colours for £6.90) but they are OOS! Anyone know where I can buy Le Creuset stuff cheaply?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

    France.:rotfl:

Slightly more helpfully, if you're willing to be patient, keep an eye on ebay. People who don't cook buy Le Creuset because it looks good, then get bored with it.
