I always use a suitable varnish (a couple of thin coats is better than one thick one) to protect anything that I've use emulsion paint on.
You've just got to decide whether you want matt, satin or gloss.
I think you may be ok with wax on the photo frame as as you say it's not going to get knocked about.
I find wax can darken the colour slightly though.

I got a sewing machine for my birthday, and I have started making my own cushions for the garden chairs. I bought fabric for this, but I also made a new cushion from two old cushion covers, and I used felt to make a flower and a pretty button to hold it in place!
I got a load of old terracotta pots, so I bought some sample paint pots and painted them pale pink, cream, pale blue and pale mint - I have more than I can use so I think I might sell some at a boot sale!

I also varnished some cheap photo frames I bought years ago to give them a new lease of life. And I have melted down some old candles to make new ones. I love making my own stuff, so satisfying :j
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

  • I was in BHS on Saturday and they had a gorgeous patchwork style bedding set which was very "CK" I didnt get one as I have an obsession buying beautiful bedding and have far too many sets now!

If anyone is nearby to a BHS the sets were £20 for a single and £30 for a double and had been reduced... there were also matching scatter cushions to go with the set.

I went to Cath Kidston and was in my element.... her eiderdowns are so soft and luxurious... hubby treat me to a lovely blue/white dotty bag which has become my new handbag... didn`t get any teatowels for cushions though as the shop was soooo busy.

    Morning

I had a real stroke of OS luck last night! After painting the cabinets lemon we decided on an off white for the walls. I knew we had an old tub of magnolia in the shed so I went to get and found a brand new tub of antique white paint sitting next to it! No idea when or why we bought it but it is perfect! So things are really starting to take shape. Now I am the hunt for fabulous accessories to brighten up the kitchen!
