  • Love the teaset and stool Jennyjelly

and Bibbly you have done a lovely job of the butlers tray.

I managed to pick up this wooden tray in a cs today for £1.50 and will be sanding and painting it over the next few days

Nice tray notsorich, I'll look forward to seeing the result.

I used one like that to make a wine label decoupage tray - I'll dig it out in the morning and take a photo.

DH is now saving beer bottle labels to make one of his own - though I think it's really just an excuse to drink a load of different bottled beers!
Oh dear, here we go again.

    Hi all,

I'm from the Sewing Room, but have found this thread and am loving it.
My house is a different style, so I have never done SC - thinking about it though!

I would love some advice please.
My daughter is pregnant and would love to use a chair that has been in the family for years as a Nursing Chair.
However the upholstery foam has broken down and needs replacing and recovering.
I would tackle just the recovering, bur replacing the foam is going to be harder as it needs to mitred at the edges to look good.

Can anyone advise, or recommend an Upholsrerer in the Newcastle area to get a price?
I've no idea what it will cost, but the actual size is 24" x 45" and I have taken some pics.
    Any advice appreciated.

    Hi Cuddles, Welcome

Sorry I cant really help with the foam thing. I didnt want to ignore your first post though. I have 2 parker knoll chairs that I am planning ot reupholster (hopefully in a patchwork style) and now that you have mentioned it I am sure that the foam in the seat will need replacing in some way. I look forward to hearing any ideas from anybody.

Natc - I have one of those laundry baskets - it was my grandmas, but there was never a cushion on it - it was a piece of perspex!! Dont know if that was in replacement of a cushion or not?

I've got one as well, there are metal corner bits hold a piece of glass on mine, not very "safe" I suppose. Your basket seems to have much taller metal bits - I wonder if they were added later?

The padded topped baskets that have lost the padding usually have a plain piece of plywood rather than the weaving. HTH

I look forward to seeing the curtains, I bought the duvet set for our bed and I do like it but it's not quite what I really want. I'm going to try and decorate the room in a way that I can change the duvet I think. I was wondering about making the curtains from the duvet and getting differnt bedding though...

sending lots of hugs frenchgirl - really am - cannot imagine what you have been through - hope you have someone close to share lots of chats with about her - do you scrapbook - have you got lots of pictures that you can work through - I know its different but when I lost my Dad - I took it really hard and I poured my heart and soul into doing a book dedicated to him - it was very therapeutic - even without photos - just writing down your memories takes your mind on a journey which can be very healing - sending you lots of hugs xxx
