Now you mention it luxor, my step dad had one of these (in a grim pink) and his had a really thick piece of glass on it. Maybe that explains the extra height?

Twinkles, I love those rosy curtains. All ours are from the bland ikea era, beige and boring, so I'm now on a mission to pretty up the windows.
What are your plans for the dresser? I can see it all cream and pretty, but I must admit I think it's rather gorgeous as it is!
Ok, remember yesterday I showed you this:
Well I did a bit of work on it yesterday and this is how it looks now:
Hope you like it!Oh dear, here we go again.0 -
I've got one as well, there are metal corner bits hold a piece of glass on mine, not very "safe" I suppose. Your basket seems to have much taller metal bits - I wonder if they were added later?
The padded topped baskets that have lost the padding usually have a plain piece of plywood rather than the weaving. HTH
Mine has those brackets on the top too - but as i remember they were quite new and shiney - must have been added later - i took them off. The handle is different and looks original - It was green and I spray painted it white about 10 years ago and only did one coat so its still waiting for a secondMaybe I will take a photo and upload it.

My mouth dropped open when I saw the transformation of the iron - its gorgeous - did you hand paint all those flowers - my oh my what a talented lady you are0 -
Not posted for a while but I've been 'lurking' all the time.
Jennyjelly - love your handiwork on the iron, well done :T
I'm constantly amazed at the originality and imagination shown on the projects you all do, wish I had some!
Also, this is a lovely little community on this thread and reading all your posts cheer me up no end, love to you all :smileyhea0 -
Well, I just won this on ebay. I threw a cheeky offer in not expecting to get it and hey ho :T I won. Now I need some advice. I am planning to paint it. I read the thread a little way back that had a link to a site giving advice on refurbishing and it said to use spray paint. I would like to paint it white (then again I might change my mind when I pick it up) but what is the best kind of spray paint to use, preferably a matt finish. I am also going to head off to Laura Ashley because I want some of the fabric that is the same as Kandi's (?) chimney breast wallpaper for it! Sorry if I named the wrong inspirational lady. I think the paper is called Marissa,
just off to do some searching through the thread. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
jennyjelly, the iron looks great is it still a door stop?
I think that the wicker basket brackets were to hold a piece of glass, had one
years ago. (which I kept it now, boo)
Twinkles08 Will be looking at bedding with a different light now, much cheaper that buying
curtains. How are you going to be dressing the rest of the room?
Cherisong I've had heard that some people use car spray paint for wicker, but I dont know
for sure, sorry. Laura Ashley........ drool!0
