Well, I just won this on ebay. I threw a cheeky offer in not expecting to get it and hey ho :T I won. Now I need some advice. I am planning to paint it. I read the thread a little way back that had a link to a site giving advice on refurbishing and it said to use spray paint. I would like to paint it white (then again I might change my mind when I pick it up) but what is the best kind of spray paint to use, preferably a matt finish........

I use watered down emulsion (about 5 of paint to 1 of water). It takes around 6 coats to get a good even covering, but I was very disappointed with the spray paints as it took 2 cans (£12!) just for a chair, didn't go on as I'd have liked & made me wheeze.

This chair was painted with emulsion:

The seat pad was from Dunelm Mill.

Luxor - that chair looks great - maybe I will try watering down a f&b matchpot for my laundry basket - I was a bit shocked when I priced up the spray paint the other day

pennib Yes, the iron is still earning its keep as a doorstop but it has moved to a different room now. I'll probably repaint it again in another 25 years!

luxor that is a lovely chair, I love the shape and the cushion goes so well. It's the sort of chair you should be drinking Pimms in!
Oh dear, here we go again.

    What a lovely wicker chair.
The iron door stop is so cute, it looks gorgeous now.
The curtains are great, I really don't know what do do with my bedroom, hmm decisions, decisions!

I bought a very pretty cake stand from TK MAxx today and so did some baking to try it out. We've just been sitting in the garden eating cake and drinking tea, but now I feel ever so slightly sick!

thanks Luxor, good idea about watering down the paint. I might try that instead. The chair is lovely. I like the pad on it too.

I am also going to head off to Laura Ashley because I want some of the fabric that is the same as Kandi's (?) chimney breast wallpaper for it! Sorry if I named the wrong inspirational lady. I think the paper is called Marissa,
just off to do some searching through the thread.

Love the basket. I think you might be thinking of my chimney breast - is it the wallpaper with purple & pink wisteria? I looove my chimney breast, will be gutted to leave it.

I've just spray primed the top half of OH's Mum's glass fronted cabinet, will be able to F&B it tomorrow but not until I've eaten Birthday cake and..........signed the contracts for the new house :D:beer: once we've got this place there'll be absolutely no stopping me on this thread, lol xx

Yep, 23 years young tomorrow :D I was hoping to be moved in so we could have a Birthday/housewarming BBQ but this is still a nice treat. We just need to wait for monies to be transferred then we can complete, probably another week or so :j although berluddy typical timing as I've arranged to go visit my friend in Scotland for a few days next Thursday...at least if we move then I can pack boxes and leave OH with instructions and save myself the hard work :rotfl:
