Went to the market at Tynemouth Station today. It's a market held on the platforms of a partially restored Victorian station with the majority of the stalls selling vintage goods. Had a really good day and got:
Four different cup/saucer/plate trios for £1 each (I'm building up an eclectic range of crockery to replace my boring plain Ikea stuff).
A Brexton Picnic set for £12, this is in a green case with little white dots on it and contains 4 china cups, saucers and plates all with a white background and little green dots on. One of the cups has been broken and glued but the rest are mint. Four teaspoons, a knife and fork, three glass containers with green lids, two green hinged tins and two cream and white flasks, though the inner of one of the flasks is broken. I figure that I should be able to replace these with two similar looking flasks.
Two sets of vintage embroidered cotton pillowcases for £7.50. One set was still boxed with the pillowcases sealed in cellophane and the second were still in the base of their box but over the years the lid of the box must have got lost.
I have posted pictures of my buys on my blog if anyone wants to see them.0 -

natc this is how you post pics:
Step 1: On flickr, on your photo, if you click "All Sizes" (just above the photo), it will take you to a page where you can select different sizes.
Step 2: Click on "Medium" Which will take you to about the right size photo to put on this board.
Step 3: Now, if you scroll to the bottom of that page, there should be a box with a title "2. Grab the photo's URL:" (it's the second box)... copy what's in the box below this title... it will looks something like this:http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4062/...d07aa20441.jpg
Step 4: Now come back to the MSE forum... Go to the "Quick Reply" box at the bottom of THIS page
Step 5: There should be lots of icons just above where you type... it has ones that look like B (for bold) a slanted I (for Italics), a U with an underline, and so on.
Step 6: Amongst those icons, there is a yellow-ish box, 7th one from the left... It's between an Earth with two link chains, and a speach bubble... see it? - it's suppose to have a mountain and a sun, but it's not the best image of them. Click on that icon
Step 7: Should bring up the box asking for the image URL. Paste the link into there & click ok ...Oh dear, here we go again.0 -
Wow, Bibbity, how do you fit in any time to help decorate, do your own shabbying, blogging, and coming on here? Do you ever sleep!
Honestly? I struggle! I haven't shabbied or blogged for a while since I started to take on so much more work. I had M.E for a long time and still find I get ill when I do too much so try to pare it down, just not really an option at the moment when new house and redundancy are looming

Well, I'm knick knacked after today. Spent the morning in DIY sheds and the afternoon shabbying up OH's parent's living room. All the walls are stripped and we found some really beautiful pearlescent rococo style wallpaper for £2 a roll in B&Q. We've spray painted all the original light fittings and painted a dark wood clock, table and magazine rack in cream eggshell, and done the edges in gold enamel for a shimmery distressed look. MIL took lots of photos so when she sends me them I'll share! I'm exhausted but can't wait to see how it looks - they're going away next week so we're going to crack on and get the place sorted whilst they're away. The only thing I'm not looking forwards to is painting the huuuge display cabinet she's got, although it will look amazing when it's done.0

JCR16 are you going to make the sofa quilts all by hand?
no the throws are for in the lounge. so they will be shades of purples, aubergine an lilac. i've been buying similar sqaures to these.

so far i've prob bought about 9 bundles of sqaures and i just keep buying them as i see them so i can make sure hopefully i have enough matching ones to tie both the quilts in together.
i also made a cushion which was my first project.
i plan to make a couple more of these once the quilts are finished and i found this cushion on ebay which i thought i might try and make a similar one on design.

but that might have to wait a couple of months as i've got so many projects underway,lol.0 -
