Ooh fab tip about the oils on the window, I was only looking at mine earlier and thinking they could do with a clean :o

OH's Mum has asked me to help her redecorate her house in a shabby chic style before her friends come and visit in November! We're starting with the living room (OH ripped a load of fake dark wood beams off for her yesterday ) so I'm going to take my camera and try to get some before and afters to share with you all.

I just realised I've not added my own introduction...I'm one of the babies of the bunch I think (23 next Wed :D). I live in Lincolnshire in my own little girly flat, but am in the process of buying a 1930's semi with my lovely OH who I've been with for two and a half years. No children for a few years yet, just a very fluffy cat. I work as a freelance community artist which means delivering art and craft workshops around the area (mostly community groups), run my own face painting business and work 30 hours a week as an Education Officer at the local museum. So I have lots to keep me busy! The museum job future is looking very shaky so I've started my freelance work up again and have been doing lots of evenings and weekends, enjoying my first day off for about three weeks today!

Wow, Bibbity, how do you fit in any time to help decorate, do your own shabbying, blogging, and coming on here? Do you ever sleep!

Also my dining table is the £1000 one that i got from ebay for £9.99 last year. needs some tlc, but i think it adds to the rustic charm and we love it.

really pretty runner hun - what will you put underneath it - a plain cloth - what colour??? Did it take you long to make - and was it difficult - I cant sew for toffee - but I can cross stitch strange isnt it - I have a machine - think it belonged to Eve its that old and it is somewhere in the garage - I wonder if I could attempt something like this - bought some red and white gingham fabric from laura ashleys today (half price)

i bought some plain 100 % cotton from ebay. think it was £1.60 a meter but she lets you do a best offer. and i used a pale blue. it wasn't very difficult sewing all the patchwork together. the ironing the seems was fiddly. if i sat and did it on go would prob of took 3 or 4 hours max. but i did it bit by bit. then i ran out of backing material, then i waited for the bias binding to come. but i wasn't worried about time really. although when i got towards the end i just wanted it finished, lol. It really isn't perfect to a proffesinal sewer, but for a first attempt i'm chuffed. i'm thinking of making some matching place mats. but using say just one of the fabric design. ie the gingham or the heart polka dot. but not sure if that will be too ott.

well i did have to unpick a huge section the other night as i was a bit tipsy, lol. the one difficult bit i found was it was so long i seemed to just have an abundace of material. next i'm gonna try to make a baby play mat and that will be smaller in length so should be easier. i'm also in process of making two patchwork quilts to go on backs of sofa for winter. but hoping mil with help with those as they quite big. and involve alot of hand sewing.
