  • Hi everyone,

I have now managed to get before and after photo's done of the chest of drawers I painted a few weeks ago.
I bought the drawers for £15.00 last year from a cs and the mirror for £5.00 about 2 months ago also from a cs.

Please ignore the state of the surrounding area around it,
I was half way through decorating the room for my son, when he decided to move out and move in with his girlfriend

hi everyone , i'm soooo glad to find a bunch of like minded people who love to recycle ( or UP-cycle, as seems to be the word if buying from a trendy shop!) & have something unique rather than buy something thousands of others have, unfortunately my friends don't share my enthusiasm & think i'm old fashioned (i'm 36!).

anyway a couple of pages back luxor4t posted links to a pic of a trolley which had been cut down & painted, it looks fab, could anyone tell me if the paper used has polka dots or roses on it, i cant seem to make it out, if it is roses does anyone know where it might be from? thanks x

    Nice to 'meet' you all.

It's not very money saving but i have to show off this gorgeous light fittng. My aunt has bought it or me, to go over my dining table. http://www.johnlewis.com/230483280/Product.aspx . i can't wait for it to arrive!

Two more dillemas today, my dining table an chairs are all bare pine. I cant decide whether to varnish them a darker wood shade, clear varish them, or paint them with a gloss. Any ideas?

Also, my computer will have to lie n the ining room, but it wi look ugly. I'm trying to think up something clever to hide it, maybe a cabinet with doors, or a screen?

I am loving everything that has gone on today, but feeling left out because I clicked on the link and it says it is out of date:( Sounds like a bargain to me though. How about getting an old bureau for the computer and painting it up. There seems to be lots on ebay, or a small armoire type wardrobe that you could put into the living room, you could add a shelf that slides in and out, shouldnt be too difficult and then you could hide lots of clutter in there too.

Oh I was going to say bureau too! Cherisong beat me to it!
I like the cd cabinet, I will be watching out for the after posts.

I think the introductions is a great idea. This thread doesn't seem to go off topic much so it's nice to know a little about you all.

I'm 30, married and have a gorgeous 2 1/2 year old son. I suppose I'm now an Essex Girl as have lived here for 11 years but I grew up mainly in Bristol. I'm a SAHM but volunteer as a Breastfeeding Peer Supporter at a local support group and in hospital. So if any of you other Essex Girls are having any babies I could well get to meet you!

P.S. I can't see the light now either, what was it like?

I love how the new term for refurbishing furniture is 'upcycling'. I had no idea what it meant at first. Nice to know we are now trendy!

The programme Mary Queen of Shops which was on the other night showed a marvellous shop. Well it is marvellous now after the makeover. The blue sideboard featured in the programme had a hefty price tag on it after being 'upcycled'. I think it was being sold for £500, eek!

Are you near an IKEA? There are huge reductions (75%) in the sale but items vary from store to store

I'm sure he'll cheer up once he's eaten his toad in the hole I made and he's assessed that his big toe is not broken as he suspects.:p
