Hi all, I don't often get to post, but do try to read posts every day!

I am Amanda aged 37 and have been married for nearly 5 years. We have 3 gorgeous children DS aged 8, DD1 aged 5 and DD2 aged 3.

I like shabby chic stuff and currently have a dresser and 5 dining chairs to "shabby up" but they may have to wait until September when DD2 starts nursery as I can't seem to fit time in to do them whilst I have the children around! Still, at least I won't be bored when they go back lol! I do like decorating as well, so have got lots of projects planned as and when finances allow :D

Hope everybody is well and has a good day!

Oops forgot to wave back Danemi1 (but now have no smilies to do it!!)

Danemi1 I can see your photos fine. Well done on the transformation of your chairs they are lovely.

I wonder if anybody can help on getting the smell of old stale wood/damp from inside
cabinets or chest of drawers? I have tried washing/painting/varnishing inside to no avail, in fact the varnish made the smell worse and was making my clothes reek of a funny odour. I gave up in the end and bought a new set of drawers (bad me....but I was desperate for storage) If anyone has got over this problem I would be interested to know for future projects. Thanks

pennib, I think newspaper is supposed to absorb smells - if you leave some in the drawers for a while, I think the smell goes - not sure how long for though. hth = lilo

Ok, I've been mainly a lurker on here and only stuck my oar in a couple of times, but since everyone is introducing themselves ...

I'm Jenny, I had my 51st birthday yesterday but don't feel a day over 20:p, live with my husband and 2 sons (well one is only here part time as he's at uni, the other has just finished college and signed on), a psychotic dog with crippling agrophobia (Daisy) and a lovely calm neutered tom called Taz. I work as a civil servant 3 days a week and spend the other four struggling to keep the clutter and mess under control. We just have TOO MUCH STUFF!!!! (Sorry to shout but it makes me feel like that). Hubby says if it's making me feel that way why don't I just chuck it all out  - I'm sure that most of the other ladies on here understand why I can't.

I'm a total craft obsessive - I like restoring/shabbying (though I've been banned from buying anything else larger that a book), crochet, knitting, silk painting, gardening, mosaicing, sewing, making jewellery, making handbags, felting - in fact anything other than the housework and cooking I should be doing. I dream of things and keep a notebook by my bed so I can write/draw then before they go out of my head, and sometimes they turn out quite successful.

So now I've de-lurked you might see my name cropping up with boring regularity. Just tell me to shut up if I drivel on too much!;)
Oh dear, here we go again.
