I am hosting a tea party soon and have just got a lovely tea set from freecycle. What do you think?

Shirlgirl, I won that table! I'm so excited about making it look lovely. I now need to get mine on ebay sharpish or we won't have room to move here.
I'm glad that I've finished painting the kitchen and can focus on this.
Let me know if you need a hand gettting it back to Chelmsford. I can't wait to see the finished result. I have still only painted one chair :o

That is so, so pretty. Perfect for a tea party. What is the party for, what are you doing? If you're an Essex Girl you can borrow my bunting.

Thanks Shirlgirl. I'm really hoping that it'll be one trip in the car but I will shout if I get stuck. x

If I come across some pink fabric, and I have time, I may make some bunting.

Well it's easy to make, but pretty boring. I made some last year from disposable tablecloths and curling ribbon (the stuff you tie to balloons). Cut the tablecloth into triangles and glued tothe ribbon. It looks quite effective but wouldn't last more than one or two times. I made proper bunting as we hold a big event each year so it made sense.
If you are making it from fabric it might be worth seeing if you can get a couple of cheap duvets or sheets from a Boot Sale or Freecycle.
I think a Tea Party is a lovely idea... I might see what my friends think too!

    Hi guys

Hope you don't mind me crashing your party. I've just moved into a lovely 3 bed semi after years of living in a small flat, nd best of all my lanlord has told me I can do whatever I like to the place so long as I don't tear down walls (haha) and he will pay for decorating materials.

There is already wooden floor throughout, apart from the hall which has black and white tles.

I'm so excited about my enormous 'project' and would love to share ideas with you.

My favourite bargain so far is an oak telephone table with padded seat for £10 in a charity shop - I plan to paint and reupholster it.

I've also found some fab things in poundland. I got a really cute spotty teapot, some stripy tea towels, glass storage jars, flowery cushion covers and metal jelly moulds.

Anyway just hello for now, I'm off to read back through the thread.
