Twinkles, the cabinet is LOVELY! Nice work.
I'm loving the sewing boxes so much that I want one now0 -
I love coming on and looking at the pictures
Makes me all inspired!
I popped into B and Q yesterday and bought the Cath Kidston paint reduced to £5 on the label and it scanned at £1 (Pillar box red) I went back and bought a few more tins and have painted some plant pots which were heading for the tip (I had advertised them on freecycle but no interest) They now look so bright and colourfulI'm thinking about putting some white spots on them but unsure of the easiest way to do this - any ideas? x

Hi lolly. I use the other end of a pencil or paintbrush to do dots. I hope that makes sense. Good luck.0

Hi everyone!
I've been watching this thread since it started and love all your projects
I'm coming out of hiding now as I need your help to make my boring dark kitchen a shabby haven!!
I have no money, well very little money, so I have enough for paint and a few extras and am trying to save up for a new worktop.
I am open to any and every suggestion!
I amplanning to paint the cupboards with wickes cupbard paint and the mexican pine unit I will paint also. I'm looking on ebay for a shelving unit to go on the wall behind the mexican pine unit. I dont like (hate) the glass and lead in the cupboards so wouldn't mind some idea of what to do instead.
Thank you!!!!! I will keep posting up-dates as I get on with it too.
Please ignore the cat and dog in the picture, I am not painting them although the dog looks like she already has beenStarting my DMP Journey.0 -
epps!! Don;t know how to make my pictures smaller! sorry!!Starting my DMP Journey.0

BexBex, I'm no expert on doing things up (yet!) but I'm sure someone who can offer advice will be along soon.
I just wanted to say that you Dalmatian looks cute, and is a perfect accessory in any kitchen :A0 -
bexbex I love your little cat head door hangers on the wall cupboard. Did you make them?
Your first job is to scrub everything well with hot water with a bit of stardrops in it, that will shift the worst of the grease that always sticks to surfaces in kitchens. Then give them all a light sanding down and then another good clean with sugar soap. Because the wood is quite dark you might need two coats of paint, but I have never used the one you mention so it might be a one coat one.
Good luck with it, and don't forget to post a pic when you have finished.
BTW if you are posting pics from flikr you need to select medium before you capture the URL, that should make your pics a more manageable size.Oh dear, here we go again.0 -
bexbex, im sure it will look great!
With the glass int he doors, why not try hanging some fabric on the inside? Some nice country cottage looking fabric?
I can see it all coming together now, with the cream or white paint on the cupboards, some nice fabric on the other side of the glass doors, and youve got some lovley items there already - your tea/sugar/coffee pots, the laundry powder tin, the lovley cups/mugs, and the hanging cats etc it will look gorge!!!
Cant wait to see!0 -
Twinkles I love your cabinet - I would love to have the space to have one in my kitchen
Bexbex your cupboards will look fabulous painted - have to say though that I REALLY like the mexican pine unit - I personally wouldn't paint that as I think it's lovely the way it is.
It might be worth painting the actual cupboards first and you might find that the unit gives a nice contrast.
