Have you tried Freecycle and the various other incarnations? Does your local council tip sell items that are still in good condition? (Ours doesn't. Elfin safety and all that, but other councils seem to be able to get around that.) <rolls eyes>

Love all the cupcake handles. Another option is to make your own from Fimo.

Also, loving all the before and after pics. I got a mirror from one of the car boots I went to recently for £2. It's currently got a gold frame, but will shortly be painted cream and will go in the bathroom. I shall post before and after pics when I do it.

Thank you thank you for alll the lovely photos. I love the chairs and placemats this is such a happy place to come. Long may it last.

Not shabby chic but four girlfriends and I are 50 (I Know!!) next year and we would like to do something special. Any ideas welcome. No no jumping out of planes I have already suggested that lolxx

Thanks Gigervamp. Our Freecycle is a bit crazy, soooo many people on there. It's great to give things away but not so good if you are trying to get something. I'm going to keep a look out though, you never know.

Shirlgirl that sewing box is lovely. I had a bit of an obsession with sewing boxes a couple of years ago which started with this one which cost me £3 in a CS.....

which I still have (and love). In fact I probably posted those pics on the ancient shabby chic thread that was on here years ago :)

I took a "break" from doing furniture and stuff for quite some time but am starting to get my mojo back, so reading through this thread has been brilliant for me.

I'm in Herts now but am originally an EG too :):)

Love seeing all the pictures, it's great and is my favourite thread on MSE at the moment.

Essexgirl ~ your chairs are beautiful!

xxVickixx ~ Your kitchen looks stunning, you should be so proud.

Artydoll ~ I love your coasters.

Well after getting your advice and being really excited I forgot to bid on the batheroom cabinet lol! However I did buy a new project yesterday. This lovely little blanket box. (more pic's on my blog ) I'm not sure if it is Lloyd loom or not, but I love it! It was very MSE too, it only cost me £3!:D

I've been and bought primer and spray paint today, and am looking for some pretty blue and white fabric for the seat. I intend to start painting tomorrow and will update as I go.

Oh that's lovely :) I never did anything to the inside of mine, which was in okayish condition.

I bought about 5 sewing boxes during my "addiction" but this one has always been my fave :) I have 2 left in the garage I think which I will probably get around to painting at some point!

I was going to paint mine but a light sanding and several coats of wax brought it up ok....I love it - just the right height to sit next to the sofa whilst I'm stitching.
