SATC geeks will recognise Magnolia as Mirandas fave bakery... we went there on honeymoon on hubbys birthday for cupcakes, and i tore the lid from the box to fetch home, finally got around to making it pretty!

if anyone wants to see, this is my new kitchen...

How do those of us who don't have a facebook account get to see the pictures?

Mummy, I can't see your pictures. I assume you have them locked for security. How about hosting them on photobucket?
There are some lovely items of furniture being shown here. Well done to all of you clever people. DH is still insistant that he *HATES* painted furniture but I live in hope. After all, when we met, he was convinced he'd be poisoned if he ate veggies and he eats them now! Fingers crossed ladies/ gent.......

  • Hi Everyone,

I have been watching this thread for quite a while and am so inspired by all of the beautiful items that have been shabbied up ! Hope you don't mind me joining in.
I am currently in the process of painting a wooden 2 drawer chest and a pine mirror and will post photos once I have finished. These items will be for my daughters bedroom who has insisted that she really doesn't like shabby chic floral but likes the red, white & blue/retro union jack look.
Today I have been to Dunelm mill where I managed to get a couple of cream coloured hat boxes (half price at 99p and 74p) which I am going to try and decoupage with some floral napkins from tesco and again will upload if they turn out ok.

Hi all...well i went to a carboot yesterday. It was a last minute thing and it was packing up time when we arrived. But i got a few lovely bargains!

A lovely glass fronted, wall mounted corner unit. It has 2 shelves and a lovely shabby chic shape. It cost me £4 which i haggled down from £7. Its very good quality,so i feel i got a bargain there! Its dark wood and i intend to paint it...but help is needed! I cant get the front glass out,so how do i avoid getting paint on the glass...do you ladies use masking tape? Any tips much appreciated!
I also go two cute little kitsch ornaments for 20p each. A little fawn with a ladybird on its tail and a cute little owl sitting on some books.
A circular glass etched picture of some flowers and butterflies. Haggled down to 50p from £1.
    A Good housekeeping cookbook 50P.
A lovely boho embroidered bag with wooden handle £1.
Oh and sunburn...that was free! lol.

Depending how fiddly, I'd use masking tape or just get one of those window cleaners razors. Then when you're done you hold the razor flat against the glass and scrape off the paint. HTH's.

I use masking tape for my projects. Try to get the low tack stuff otherwise it can be a pain to remove it afterwards. Really take your time applying it, use your nail to press the edge of the tape just under the wooden frame, so that the glass comes up perfectly clean when you remove it. Don't overload the brush or it can crack and clump a bit as you peel the painted-on tape off.
