Tara, that is just not fair, I think that you should send me the second bowl!!!!!!!! I am so not good at getting bargains in CS. I love that you have gotten something so lovely and obviously preloved.

Thank you for your lovely message Thriftkitten. My shabbying is still zero along with my energy and cheer at the moment :o had a tough weekend and haven't slept for 4 nights in a row, so exhausted.

In better news the new mortgage application is being submitted today so hopefully we'll have some more positive news soon, however having spent the last 4 months saying that every couple of days for some reason or another I'm finding it hard to believe and get my hopes up until we have the survey back and the solicitors working.

Sorry for being such a grump :( will find something more cheerful and shabby to post soon :D

Should we have a sticky on post #1 with all the free sample sites so that we (and newbies) can see them all at a glance?

there is a sort of primer you can use straight on varnished wood to save stripping back. I have used it in the past (more than 8 years ago!) but can't remember what its called. Yu'd certainly find it at a big DIY store though. I'd say were' fairl rough with furniture (always had dogs and cats, and clumsy people around, and at that time had two small children about) and its been upto the job as far as hardwearing goes. It will be intersting to see how things have coped with storage though.

    hello all

I have just bought myself a pine dresser for my kitchen but as it is handmade pine (not orange) I am loathe to paint it. Is it still shabby chic to keep it as it is?? It cost me £35 and I am very pleased with it.

ps Love all the things you all make and do

leave it! it should be how you enjoy it. If you want to girly it up you can always lay some pretty wall paper on shelves inside like drawer liners.

orange is I think something to do with the varnishing. I have a scrubbed top table, which would have been unpainted on top bu painted legs, so I simply painted the bottom and not the top. ''proper'' pine can be lovely.
