Finally we have a new house to rent (after 3 months searching and getting dissapointed!) and I am really looking forward to shabby-chic'ing it up! Have alredy got some lovely bookcases to paint and a few moer bits and pieces we're being given. However, as a treat to myelf as I've never had a new one, I want to buy a bed. The estate agents photos for our house showed the master bedroom with a lovely white metal bed in and it looked fab, so that's what I want! now, to choose...
opinions welcome on the following if anyone cares to look xx

Definitely no 1 would be my choice, mine's similar, it's in cream & the bars are straight, which makes it sound nothing like it but it is very alike.
I had one like no 3 & it was quite cheap & tinny feeling.
They would all look lovely though with cushions & chabby chic bits & pieces around.
I've got so much carp in my room at the moment, mine's more shabby sht

Saw these pretty boxes and thought of you guys. (Other patterns available)
They also do headboards that make your bed look like a traditional brass bed...

My cupboard doors are horrible cheapy beige melamine and all I've done is give them a good clean then sand them down before painting with Crown period eggshell paint. I've only done one door so far and it's looking good.

Have you got any pictures? Did you use a sander ?? I would post a picture of my door cupboard but don't know how to !!!!
Thanks guys for all your help.

Ok, I'm about to throw something out a window in a minute.

I've tried PVA'ing paper to wood like everyone's recommended but all it does is wrinkle the paper and give a terrible finish. How does everyone get a smooth finish? Or are the items you decoupage left with a wrinkly surface?!

I haven't got any pictures, I'll have to ask DD to help me with that. :o

I just used some sandpaper and gave it a really good rubdown, I'd given the door a good clean with stardrops first.

The only thing I'm unsure of is my doors don't have proper handles, they've just got a plasticy wood effect strip along the top that you use to open the door. I've left that as it is for now to see what it looks like once all the doors are painted, because I don't know if painting them would work?

The handles on my doors are like this but wood effect instead of stainless steel:

I havent done it myself but Ive read about it because I plan to line some drawers with either wrapping paper or wallpaper. You put the pva all over the wood first, then place the paper on it and smooth out with a ruler or credit card. I was going to use mod podge (craft decoupage glue) but havent ordered it yet. What are you putting the paper onto?
