Finally we have a new house to rent (after 3 months searching and getting dissapointed!) and I am really looking forward to shabby-chic'ing it up! Have alredy got some lovely bookcases to paint and a few moer bits and pieces we're being given. However, as a treat to myelf as I've never had a new one, I want to buy a bed. The estate agents photos for our house showed the master bedroom with a lovely white metal bed in and it looked fab, so that's what I want! now, to choose...

Thanks MillieMonster, I think that's my fave too, thought I'd better compare others before buying though. Showed to to DH and he had no objections, which surprised me rather but I'm not complaining!
Don't know if this will work but this is the pic of the room in our new house

My cupboard doors are horrible cheapy beige melamine and all I've done is give them a good clean then sand them down before painting with Crown period eggshell paint. I've only done one door so far and it's looking good.

Hi Ladies..i love this thread and i really enjoy reading and seeing pics of your projects - very inspiring!
I thought id mention that in Tesco today they have lovely cutlery sets with polka dots on the handles reduced to half price from £8 to £4...so of course i couldnt resist lol. Also wooden cutlery holder to put in the kitchen drawer.... half price from £8 to £4. It also can be used in a dressing table drawer for make up etc.

Definitely no 1. It is really lovely. Happy house moving and shabby chicing.(?)

Mine were melamine so I used a specialist melamine primer first (from B&Q) then painted with Farrow & Ball eggshell over the top. Worked fine and has lasted well over a year so far!

Hi Hermum, I am in St Ives, Re the Vase on the table it was from Pool market a stall there, the lady makes the most beautiful vases, mine is a lady derrier hahahah, better view from the back, but holds my fairy lights on sticks nicely, I am also addicted to ebad, Oh I mean ebay! but not much around this neck of the woods furniture wise, I too am a charity shop tart, but aparently there is a huge one in liskeard that sells mainly donated furniture, must get over there, I used to love going to the auctions, but because I'm working full time, I don't get a chance to go as it's midweek, but keeping my eye out at boot sales when the weather holds up!

I thought it might have been St Ives, when you mentioned the floods last year. Lovely place, I've only actually stayed for a few days once but really enjoyed it.
The charity shop in Liskeard must be newish as I was living there until a couple of years ago & there wasn't a decent furniture one then.
We've got a place in Plymouth where the stuff from the tip gets sold. If ever you're up this far, that's well worth a visit.
Our car boots are okish but lots of dealers.

I like number 3 too :) I'm planning a big shabby chic bargain hunt tomorrow, first stop is the market/car boot sale which is two mins walk away from my house, then the charity shops in our town, then the bus to the town where I work for the amazing 6 items for £1 flea market and then a good root around the charity shops in that town too :rotfl: If I don't find something I like in that lot I'll be very disappointed! And when I come home I'm absolutely determined to tidy up our front room as I have loads of good buys which are still in carrier bags upstairs because there's nowhere to display them as all my display areas are full of clutter and rubbish. My idea of shabby chic is pretty and minimal and uncluttered, and our house can definately not be described as such! I'd like to be able to post pics without being mortified :o
