Hi Hermum, I am in St Ives, Re the Vase on the table it was from Pool market a stall there, the lady makes the most beautiful vases, mine is a lady derrier hahahah, better view from the back, but holds my fairy lights on sticks nicely, I am also addicted to ebad, Oh I mean ebay! but not much around this neck of the woods furniture wise, I too am a charity shop tart, but aparently there is a huge one in liskeard that sells mainly donated furniture, must get over there, I used to love going to the auctions, but because I'm working full time, I don't get a chance to go as it's midweek, but keeping my eye out at boot sales when the weather holds up!Love it. I just love looking at everyone's pics. Your furniture is gorgeous. On your smaller unit is that a vase, it's very beautiful.
What part of Cornwall are you? I'm in Plymouth.
I keep buying stuff, too much to actually know where to start.
Ebay is bad, bad, bad.
Charity shops at the moment are even badder. New word for the dictionary.
I spent loads yesterday in cs on table & tray cloths. They are my new obsession.Thriftkitten

Hi esmy, Re the tables, I have 2 the same, the one nearest the window was £20 from a couple emigrating and I scoured ebay for the other, but paid about £80 for that one as she didnt want to post it and I had to coax her gently hahaha!!! Yes they are gorgeous and I drool over them nightly... well not litterally x It looks like a crackle glaze with what appears to be a stencil/transferThriftkitten your bedroom is beautiful! I particularly love the bedside tables - did you paint these? How did you get that finish? Just what I'm wanting to do to an old and horrible chest of drawers.Thriftkitten

I am sat here looking at how wonderful the kitchen cupboards look after being painted & I am thinking could I paint my ??? I would say that they are a melamine?? but I am not a 100% on that !?!?!
Any help or suggestions would be great, can't afford a new kitchen & I love the shabby chic look !
Many thanks

ronseal do a melamine and mdf paint. so i don't see why you couldn't. why not take the door off and try to paint it on the inside, that way if it doesn't work you've not damaged the outside of the door.

Finally we have a new house to rent (after 3 months searching and getting dissapointed!) and I am really looking forward to shabby-chic'ing it up! Have alredy got some lovely bookcases to paint and a few moer bits and pieces we're being given. However, as a treat to myelf as I've never had a new one, I want to buy a bed. The estate agents photos for our house showed the master bedroom with a lovely white metal bed in and it looked fab, so that's what I want! now, to choose...
opinions welcome on the following if anyone cares to look xx
